I have some questions....how does the marriage license thing work? I am from Texas, so will I just get a marriage license in Florida? Or can I get one in Texas before we leave? Also, if I do need to get one in Florida, where should I go, and are they open on the weekends, or just the weekdays? I know these are very basic questions, but thanks for the help! :goodvibes

I didn't get married there, but I can help some. You have to get it in FL, from an office that will more than likely be open only during business hours. Ours was from the register of deeds. We both had to be there to get it and most states (not sure on FL) require you to get it from the county you're getting married in.

Hope that helps a little!

Try www.aweddingforyou.com, if you want to get your license before you go. I found this address on these boards and we intend to use them for our 2007 wedding. It is true there is no wait, blood test etc. in Florida, and I understand if you choose to get one while you are down there it is good to go early. There are, I believe, two or three places near WDW where you can get your license. I know they are listed here on the boards if you wanted to do a search. Best of luck!!!

Court,

We are from Texas and using A Wedding For You. As long as you are over 18, Florida does not require a birth certificate. (B/c you are getting married in FL you need a FL marriage license.) I think you need your DL or Passport number. Also, A Wedding For You will take care of the things and send it back to you so that you don't have to fool with the courthouse. I think the cost is about 200.00. To me it is worth the time b/c we are coming in on Tuesday afternoon and getting married on Thursday. I just have too much to do to be able to go. It wasn't an option for us to go early!

Hope this helps, let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks so much you guys....I think I will just go ahead and do it that way instead of having to mess around with going to the courthouse....out of curiousity, how much is it to go the courthouse rather than through the mail?

here's a copy of a PM i sent to another disney bride a couple of months ago. hope it helps. i know it costs $97.50 in person, but the mail order places charge a bit extra for them having to get it for you. its actually really easy, when we went there was a long queue and we were still in and out within an hour. here we go:

ive got the directions from the buena vista palace (used to be the wyndham palace) next to downtown disney, so best thing is probably to go there (easy enough to find), and then follow the directions from there. we found it very easily so theyre good directions! i've got a few pages of info you're welcome to if you want (including requirements for the marriage license itself and how to get it),

osceola county courthouse
2 courthouse square
2nd floor
kissimmee
Fl, 34741
tel # 4073433530

open monday to friday 8.30-4.30, closed on holidays

take passport, divorce papers if applicable or name change documents if you've changed name at any time, plus $97.50 (current charge) payable in cash, travellers cheques or credit card

you get an hours free parking

directions from buena vista palace:
go out of car park
turn left onto buena vista drive
turn left at 1st traffic light onto hotel plaza blvd
continue to next main intersection - SR535
turn right onto the 535
continue straight ahead to highway 192
turn left onto highway 192
continue to john young parkway (bermuda avenue)
turn right onto john young (bermuda avenue)
go to the 4th traffic light - patrick street
turn left onto patrick street
the courthouse will be on your left on the corner of patrick and rose street.

hope that helps
any other questions feel free to ask, ive been there and done it!!

For me, besides timing it has really become: How much is that really worth to me?
For example is it worth $80 to ride alone with my future husband to the wedding site in the limo. We are going to see each other before b/c we are going to take pictures before. Yep that is worth $80 for a little bit of just peace and quiet before the craziness starts. Just to be with him and have a relaxing minute. For me, with all of the other stuff I have to do it is worth the extra 90 bucks to do the license early just not to be rushing around. I guess for each individual person, what is it worth to you.....

This is just my perspective.

you have to have a florida marriage license.

you can get your florida marriage license in person at one of the nearby court houses/clerks office osceola county courthouse in kissimmee 407-343-3530 or http://www.osceolaclerk.com orange county courthouse in orlando 407-836-2067 or http://www.orangeclerk.ocfl.net or through the mail since your out of state, through a wedding for you, inc.

we used a wedding for you, inc. for our marriage license. the extra cost was worth the time for us, its one less thing i have to worry about now.

28 days to go! :bride: twojo21
