My husband and I would really like to try Marrakesh. My question is how large are the portions, esp the shish kebabs. They are 17 dollars at lunch and 24.00 at dinner. How many skewers are you getting? We'd like to order the sampler appetizer for two with chiken bastilla, beef brewat rolls, and jasminas salad, split one order of the shish kebab, then order dessert. It just seems very expensive compared to ohanas where i can eat all the skewered meat i want. We definately want to experience Marrakesh though, and are not seafood or lamb eaters. Any experience on portion sizes? Thanks so much everyone!

I don't recall how many skewers but i remember it was very good and I was not hungry! If the price is too steep, you might try Tangieres Cafe, it has great fast middle eastern food, tabouli, hummous, wraps Etc and it was also great. They also have a coffee and dessert area in the back which is wonderful.

I can't remember the exact number but I left rolling out of there. I couldn't finish my meal. Neither could my husband and that is something because generally he is a bottomless pit!

Connears - Have you visited the coffee/dessert shop? Do you recall any of the things they offered, I'm interested in trying some traditional Moroccan coffee (not nescafe).

I do remember that they had baklava, because I'm greek and compared it to my mom's..good but not as good as mom! I know that the coffee was a key element, so I would think it was not the "norm" for WDW, but can't remember. If its the real stuff..watch out! my uncle used to drink it and its like mud!

Thank you all sooo much! I actually liked the menu for the Tangerine cafe better, but I HAVE to try Marrakesh with the belly dancer and the dessert menu. Sounds like splitting the entree and ordering and an appetizer and desert will fill us up very easily. Thanks again- it is so great to have so much information available on these boards. Thanks again!

We're thinking of trying this restaurant. Do they have the bellydancer at lunch also?

Portions are decent sized but not huge IMO, at least in the case of the kebobs. Two skewers and a pretty big portion of couscous. The sampler appetizer is pretty big, though, and really yummy. Even though you're on a budget, I really recommend the mint tea -- we ate there on a really hot day last summer and I had about six very refreshing glasses! There IS generally a belly dancer at lunch. We love this restaurant, but were very disappointed with Tangierine Cafe. Food was kind of bland and not nearly as good.

I had some combo dinner that included soup, beef brewat roll (both really good) and for the entre it was lemon chix, beef kebob, rice pilaf and something else I think. The food was really good, we were glad we ate dinner there.:D

Sorry but we were there in January and the Kabob portions were small. They came with 1/2 cup rice not Couscous...maybe they ran out that day. I would order the feast. From what we saw they were of decent size.

and would highly recommend it. Before you enter, there is a book on a table with color photos of all the meals, so you can pretty much see what you will be getting. We went for lunch and I ordered the chef's special: nice salad, chicken kabobs (2) with rice and a very good apple pastry with a great sauce and sliced almonds for dessert. And, it was only $14.95! The service was excellent and my DW, who has a wheat/gluten allergy, was well taken care of by the entire staff.

Is the Chef's special available all the time? It sounds real good!

or if it changes from day to day. Sorry.
