W will be arriving in Disney on Jan. 2. Since we don't have park tickets for that day. I thought our family might enjoy going to downtown Disney for dining and shopping. I was dissappionted to find out that most of the restaurtants do not accept PS. What is the likelihood we could get a table for 4 around 6:30 at Planet Holywood or Wolfgang Pucks Cafe? I'm wondering if maybe I shoud for go this idea and make a PS at Spoodles and shop the boardwalk instead. My other option is O'hana and back to the WL for an early bedtime! Any suggestions? TIA!

Spoodles is pretty great in my opinion. I've also eaten at Wolfgang Puck's and thought that was pretty wonderful. I don't know how busy WDW is on 1/2. I'd make a Spoodles ressie and see once I got there what it looked like. Maybe call Wolfgang's. Then either cancel the ps or go.

I've walked by Planet Hollywood around 5 p.m. before (during a busy time in the parks) and found it to be pretty slow. I think it really gets cooking (pun intended) after 5:30 ish. We're going to hit Fulton's Crab House at Downtown Disney while we're there next week. I found it very easy to get ressies there. (They don't book through CRO. You have to call the restaurant directly.)

I would recommend wolf gang pucks before planet hollywood. WGP serves better food!

We had the same situation on our recent trrip. We went to Bongos about 6:00 and had no prblem getting a table right away. This restaurant is multi-leveled and can hold a lot of people. Not only that, we loved the food.

Just wanted to make a suggestion to skip PH for food. It's one of the most regularly negatively reviewed places on this board. If you want the experience, head over for drinks or a milkshake and then wander and look around. Then eat somewhere else!

Spoodles is great by the way - you can never go wrong there.

Thanks for all the info. Theres just too many decisions to make!!

You actually can make PS for Planet Hollywood. I did just 2 weeks ago. We loved it. Best burgers and the service was GREAT! Also, try the spinach & cheese dip as an appetizer... YUM!

Funny that you post that - I just got off the phone with wdw dining and found out about available ps there. I went ahead and made a ps and we might try to get into other restaurants but wil have the ps if everything is booked. I had not seen all the negative reviews on this board. The guide book said it was ok. I feel that we should be ok if we stick to burgers, sandwiches and fries. I save the better dinner for another night. The highlight will be seeing my DS's face when he sees the lego store anyway!

We ate at Wolfgang Puck's at Downtown Disney and it was wonderful!!!!! The best Disney dining experience this past trip! The Tortilla Soup is out of this world! I am goiong to try to find the recipe for this.

I couldn't find the menu for Wolfgang Pucks - is it very pricey? We were trying to stick to the moderate range for this evening. Could you estimate dinner for 2 adults and 2 children?

You can get a menu at
www.wdwig.com/menu/menus.htm#pi

if that does not work on your computer try www.wdwig.com and click on dining. We ate lunch at Wolfgang Puck express and the cost for a family of four was around $36. The sandwiches are delicious and huge! If we had known how large they were we could have split some of them with an order of fries and soup and spent less. 1/2 of a sandwich is huge there. I hope this helps!

Although some don't care for it, we do enjoy Planet Hollywood. We've always found the food to be fairly typical of that at other Planet Hollywood locations. So . . . it kind of depends on whether you like other ones you've tried.

The Rainforest Cafe is another restaurant that gets mixed reviews. We enjoy it very much, and we go to at least one of WDW's Rainforest Cafe restaurants once or twice every trip.

Someone also mentioned Bongo's Cuban Cafe. We've never actually tried a sit-down meal there. We did have a quick bite from their carry-out window, and if that was any indication, I'll bet their full menu is delicious.

I would give Spoodles a try, it is one of our favorite places to eat at WDW. Try one of there flatbreads if you go. I have a review of Spoodles and Planet Hollywood on the restaurant pages now.

Thank you for all the advice. We have a PS at Planted Hollywood and I thnk we will try it since we would really like to take our son to the LEGO store nearby. We may check into other availability when we get there but will probably be pushed for time.

I will have to try Spoodles another time, so many great reviews here. I was suprised to see it on the 10 worst restaurants list though!

Spoodles is actually three different restaurants (breakfast buffet, full-service dinner, and the pizza window), and they get widely different reviews, for widely different reasons. The one that I feel is superior is the full-service dinner.
