Mark your luggage!

We are leaving tomorrow and my friends DH went ahead for a conference and took the suitcase full of the baby's things. Well someone else grabbed it by mistake..got all the way 'home' before they figured it out. Huge waste of time for my friend in getting it all straightened out.

I said to her I'm sure everyone has a big black suitcase but she said hers was floral tapestry! So make sure you have something noticeable on yours, colored tape, those big day-glo (lime green of course) tags..something.

if you ever take a cruise on ANY Ship! This was a hard learn lesson. I almost missed my fight because I couldn't find my luggage in a sea of black luggage. Now I have bright red luggage with my own special marking. Makes it a lot easier to find.

I bought bright red luggage too, and couldn't believe how many other people at MCO also had bright red luggage. My DBF and DS laughed at me when I put the lime green mickey heads on everything, but it made it so much easier to find our stuff!

I did not want to spend alot of new name tags, so used the one that came with the luggage. I bought ribbon, its very cheap at Walmart, and tied some to each piece of our luggage. I picked a bright pattern, so when you are hunting for you luggage coming down in baggage area, it made is soooo easy to spot all our luggage in the sea of black luggage. The driver so that made it so easy and we left much faster than spending time hunting for your luggage!

We put blue painters' tape on our suitcases - in the shape of an "X" on both sides. Never fails us.

I have the same black luggage they sell at all Walmart stores. They are cheap, sturdy and they look like everyone elses luggage.

I also go to walmart and stop in the paint dept and purchase the bright red duct tape. We make an H on both sides and put a tab on the top of the handle. My 2 DD16 also decorate theirs with tic tac toe games. They play one game on each luggage side.

well you guessed it my DD16 lost her luggage. It never made it out on the conveyer. So off we go to lost and found. I told the airline rep it had a big tic tac toe game on one side--- he disappeared before i went any further. He returned with the luggage. He said this was the easiest piece of luggage he had ever found. He said they put in the system black with tic tac toe game on one side, didnt even bother with the big H.

Wait till they see the new florescent orange duct tape I bought for this years trip.

Ever since I started going on band trips in college (like, 1000 B.C.) I have used some kind of tape, bumper sticker, ribbon, something to set my luggage apart. Currently I have a piece of raffia braid with pony beads which my 11yoDD made, attached to the handle. My DH has a large bumper sticker covering up a hole --it works. We have never lost our luggage yet!

For our last trip in January, we purchased lime green luggage straps for everyones luggage. Finding our luggage has never been easier. My parents also used them a couple of weeks later to go on a cruise. They said finding their luggage was very easy at both the airport and the port.

We tie a bright colored ribbon to the handle. Since you have to grab for the handle to pick up luggage, it's almost impossible for someone not to notice it.

Last year we placed floresent pink stickers on the handles to all of our luggage and we were able to find each piece very easily. We too have black luggage and now own some burgandy too - which looks black in the lights of the airports LOL.

My mother and her friends cruised over the winter and each one of the women tied different color braids made from knitting wool to their luggage. Just try anything that will make your bag stand out or easily noticed by you.
