Famous Frontierland Landmark Destroyed
Marc Rohde Reports
FRONTIERLAND, Virtual Magic Kingdom 3:33AM:
This early morning started like any other. The lesser VMK staff were out cleaning the streets of VMK after a particularly rowdy closing party. Testers were working out the kinks in the new Boogies Pins.
They never expected an explosion.
A witness to the incident, HOST_Hula, was chatting with friend VMK_Red about the taken situation in the Esplanade, when she heard a roaring sound in the air. A wave of hot air pushed the duo onto the ground, and they both stared at the sky above them.
'It was amazing,' Hula reports, shaken but in awe, 'A huge white rocket was arcing across the sky with trails of smoke and fire screaming out the middle. A figure dropped out of the rocket and parachuted savely away. It then veared to the left, towards Adventureland. I immediately messaged Mocha, who I knew was nedding at the time. She escaped to her guest room.
Next thing I knew it was vertical, I could see it was in line with the side of Big Thunder Mountain, a hundred feet to the left. Then it fell out of site behind the buildings of Main Street and suddenly everything went black. When I awoke I was shaken by Zev, and several of the chairs around me were tipped over and destroyed, along with the Yeti Vision poster.'
What she didn't know was that the rocket had crashed into the Mark Twain, and that unnamed figure was Yavn testing Rocket Magic (unsuccessfully). The damage to the boat was cataclysmic. It hit right on the paddlewheel and caused a shockwave that nearly capsized the boat, which has been already rectified with a crane, and the ride carts from nearby guest rooms cascaded around it.
The Mark Twain opened on December 12th, and was expected to recieve it's next matinence in 2012. Now it's fate is uncertain.
KNN recieved exclusive access to the damage site, and was able to take this photo with our aerial helicopter.
