Do you need the wheel to play Mario Kart? I see the game is on sale at Target for a limited time only but it's sold without the wheel. Can you still play without it?
By the way, we have Speed Racer and DO NOT use the wheels as you can't do all the tricks (Car-Fu) if the remote is in the wheel.
What's the opinion? Should I get the game only on sale or do I need to add a wheel?
TIA.

No you don't really need the wheel. My kids play it all the time without because we only have one and are not changing controls each time. It might make it more fun for one person though.

No, you don't need the wheel. This is one of our favorite games, so I say go for it! It is tons of fun!

you do NOT have to have the wheel. I've played it both ways, and I prefer it without the wheel. You'll need the nunchuk if you are playing without the wheel.

We saw it yesterday at Target, and the wheel came with it :)

If you do decide to get a wheel, there are plenty out there that work w/ the Wii, but really cheap. We got one at 5 below

Does the nunchuk add something to it? We play without the wheel, but don't use the nunchuk either. Maybe we are missing something??

Thanks for the great replies everyone. I have a credit on Amazon so I'm using that to purchase from Target online. I have one wheel already but for some reason, the game only is coming up at the $39.00 sale price. I'll wait until tomorrow to check again on price before purchasing.
Can't wait to get it!

Generic wheels are easy to find. We picked up a couple at Big Lots.

Adding the nunchuk makes it more like the Gamecube controller. the hand holding the nunchuk controls the direction and throwing stuff, the other hand controls the exceleration and brakes.

We have found that it's MUCH easier to steer with the nunchucks!! It's a lot less sensitive and easier to control.
I want to say that the instructions are in the booklet that comes with the game. Check it out and give it a try.

So OP- to answer your question, you do not need the wheel to play. :)

No, but I find it easier with the wheel. When we got our Wii Tgiving 2008 we got Mario Kart, it came with the wheel and we bought 3 more generic wheels so we could all have one.
