Good Evening Everyone,

My wonderful fiance & I set a date a month or so ago and just shipped off our wedding planning packet. I'm scheduling the planning appointment for Sept (6 month mark).

I can't tell you how excited we are (or I am and he's just a great sport) to have our Disney Wishes Wedding!!

We're getting married 3/13/11 @ the Wedding Pavilion & our reception will be at Atlantic Dance.

I've booked the Rev. Tim Herring for the ceremony. I've heard wonderful things on the forum about him.

So now what? Do you recommend using the Disney photographers? Which DJ's would you recommend?

Favors? Invitations? There are so many details and the fun is just beginning.

Any opinions, hints or recommendations are welcome!

Look forward to hearing from everyone!

Welcome to these wonderful boards. Our reception was also at ADH in November 2008. We had DJ Scooter as our DJ and he was wonderful. Misty was our photographer and she recommended him and we were not disapointed. We really wanted alot of dancing and I don't think may people sat down during our reception.

I will post some pictures of ADH if you are interested. Just let me know.

Linda

Here's your PJ!

I'm using Misty too, I love her shots :lovestruc

I'm using an Ipod instead of a DJ, so I can't really comment on that. You've also just reminded me that we haven't booked our officiant yet  better look into that...

Congratulations and welcome! You have come to the right place for ideas, this place is great! If you just look over the wedding threads, you will find information for just about any topic you need to know about! The POTD thread is really good for visual ideas too. Happy planning!!

Welcome to the boards! Your wedding is after mine and you have so much more done that me! I am just now deciding on a photographer and trying to find an officient :rotfl:

Do you have a theme? Or colors in mind?

Congratulations on setting a date! We are using ADH for our June 2011 wedding as well, and I love following plans of other brides using ADH. I can't wait to read about your plans!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I've turned in all the info, but it seems like now all I can do it put together ideas and wait for my planning appointment in sept.

Is this normal?

My coordinator told me she'll handle the DJ and I'm using a Disney photographer, so that takes care of that.

It's kind of nice to have someone take care of so much, but it also takes away some of the fun as well.

I'm researching stuff like crazy and taking tons of notes from the boards. Anyone have any cute favor ideas?

Yeah that's pretty normal. That's why this board is so great, you can bounce ideas off other brides while you're planning, and then when it's time to put stuff down you know exactly what you want.

I'm going to skip favours, I just can't think of a wedding that I've been to, where anyone has kept their favour, or even remembered what it was...

I'm not sure if I've mentioned it, but we live in Orlando. We are actually 5 miles from Disney!

I've lived in Florida my entire life and Disney was always our family's favorite weekend trip. We got really carried away when they launched the Florida resident annual pass. I've taken more trips here than I can count and I love that I can escape there after work and pretend I was on vacation the whole day like the rest of the park goers. Imagine 3 hours at Disney after a rough day at work? There is nothing better, except maybe no work at all!

Believe me, living here is something I'd never take for granted. I love Florida. If Orlando had the beaches I grew up with in Ft. Lauderdale, it would be nearly perfect.

Which brings me to my next point: If you haven't booked a date yet, I would recommend Sept-April. Fall - Spring are by far the best times of year in Orlando. The parks are not as congested and the temperature is much milder. It's a beautiful, sunny 70 degrees all day.

Planning an outdoor wedding in any part of Florida is not fun, rain is almost a guarantee. Orlando's worst month is August, so for those of you considering - I'd take that into advisement. Ever wonder what the down side to living in Orlando is? It's the weather in August! I highly recommend referencing an almanac when you pick your date, you won't regret it!

I've lived in Orlando for several years and summer weather is not one of the perks. Orlando summers are known for 3 things: tourism, rain and heat. The rain is so consistent I can set my watch to it. If you have a summer date scheduled, I recommend morning or evening. It's been 98 degrees here by mid afternoon and the rain usually comes around lunch time and its long gone before 5.

The plus side to all this rain is the landscape is beautifully green & lush and all the tropical flowering plants look their best. Also, I'm a fan of the lingering smell of rain. I love that ionized air smell that those awful summer storms leave in their wake.

Rain pretty much remains my biggest fear for my special day and nothing can really prevent it. I know its supposed to be good luck, and there are far worse things that can happen, but if I can - I'd like to think I did everything in my power to reduce my chances and avoiding rainy season is the best place to start.

Hope this helps some of my fellow Disney Brides stay dry on their special day!

Hello Irish Kitty...

My apologies for the delay - with everything going on I feel like I have A.D.D.

We have picked colors. Actually, my 8 year old niece picked the colors for me when I first got engaged in Feb 2009. She told me "Your favorite colors are orange, blue & green, so if you get married in the fall, you can have orange because its a fall color, but if you get married in the spring it has to be green & blue." She's a crazy one that girl, but she was absolutely right.

I shopped around and decided I liked pistacchio green and cornflower blue (he asked if he could have blue as a color so how could I refuse?). We really like the combination in hydrangea and would like our colors to reflect our Spring wedding date.

I say we, but usually its me. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I've had a ton of conversations like the following:

Mianat: "Honey, what do you think, do you like this or that?"
WMM: "They both look good hon, whatever you want."

I ask in the rare chance that he will want something in particular.

Linda,

I would love to see your pictures! Thanks for offering to share them with me!

It's so hard to imagine how ADH can be transformed.

Did you add additional tables or did the 6 banquet work on the dance floor? Was there enough room to dance? My family are definitely the type to put the DJ to work, so I want to make sure we have enough room to enjoy ourselves...

Hi Mianat!

Sounds like you & I have a lot in common :thumbsup2

My fiance & I are getting married January 15, 2011 at the WP and reception at ADH & we're booking Rev. Tim Herring =)

We have decided to not use a Disney photographer, David & Vicki Arndt Only because we really like their work & they seem really sweet.

For hair & makeup I'm going with Beaute Speciale. I've heard lots of great things about them.

Let me know if you have any recommendations.

Diana

I'm in the process of trying to book beaute speciale. My sister has worked with them previously through Disney & she recommends them (as did my wedding planner Michelle Dorr).

Have you selected invitations yet? I'd imagine you're getting to that point any day now. I started browsing a bit, but I haven't found anything I love yet.

Also, I'm looking for some inexpensive, but creative favor idea...

Great start to your PJ and congratulations on your engagement... DF and I are also using ADH for our reception on 4/10/11 :cool1: I'll be following along on your planning...can't wait to see what you come up with! :goodvibes

I booked Beaute Speciale as well. :goodvibes I still have no idea how I want my hair and makeup though...
