Does anyone have a good margarita recipe? I have tried several store bought mixes and I don't really like any of them. I also checked Pinterest but so many came up I was overwhelmed! So I was wondering if anyone had one they were willing to share?

Thanks!

A really good margarita should have exactly three things in it, IMO... tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. That's it. Approximately a 3:1:2 or 2:1:1 ratio is about what I like.

I agree that many store-bought mixes leave something to be desired. With that said, however, getting a somewhat better tequila helps immensely as well, and may well be more the problem. I wouldn't necessarily use a $50+ higher end tequila for mixed drinks, but for ~$30 a bottle you should be able to get a pure blue agave tequila... Hornitos, 1800, Milagro, are a few that come to mind for me.

If you're looking for varieties besides just the typical lime flavor, I can say I've enjoyed replacing triple sec with St Germain (elderflower liqueur), or even blackberry brandy for something completely different.

1.5 oz Tequila
.5 oz Triple Sec
1 oz lime juice Don't use the reconstituted. Squeeze a fresh lime.

You can go 1 oz each if you like or add some simple syrup if it's too sour for you.

An Alternative using a mix.
1.5 oz Tequila
.5 oz triple sec.
3 oz sour mix (AKA sweet and sour mix)

I don't use any product with margarita mix on the label.

You may pour over the rocks or blend it up frozen.

I do one part tequila one part triple sec and a half part nellie and joes lime juice. I also sprinkle a small amount of sugar in not much. Fresh tasting and delicious I hate the mixes too they seem to have a weird aftertaste. Oh yes and use silver tequila.

I have an easy one that makes a pitcher.

One 12 ounce can of frozen limeade concentrate.
Use that can container to measure the following and add to the limeade.

1 can tequila
1 can lemon lime gatorade
1 can jose cuervo margarita mix
1 beer

Serve on ice. The gatorade keeps you hydrated, so no hangover (in theory).

Yes! I have played mixologist coming up with the perfect recipe for me. ;)

First if at all possible buy some Patron tequila. It is nice and smooth.

Second, well, I do 2 shots tequila, 5 shots of 7up, & 1 shot of reg. lime juice, over crushed ice. Stir and mix then pour into glass, ice and all.

Then a half shot of maraschino cherry juice poured over the top once the drink is in the glass. Top with cherry, for my cherry 'rita.

It is very refreshing. You can reduce the shot of tequila by one if you want a milder drink. I would then cut the lime shot to half.

The cherry juice just adds a light sweetness instead of the heavy mixes. Plus it looks cool.;)
