i don't expect any huge to-do or anything, but i was wondering if disneyland typically ever does anything special around the mardi gras season, especially given they have a whole new orleans section.

honestly i just really want some king cake. my mom was gonna ship me one but now she isn't and it's so expensive to get them shipped from a bakery! :P

so anyone who might know a place where i could get king cake in the la area in general would be greatly appreciated, too ;)

Farmers Market in LA (Normandie Bakery), closer to the Valley is Porto's, and New Orleans Sweets in South L.A. Not sure about OC or around DL area.

DL usually has some extra decorations in Orleans Square for the season and on Fat Tuesday some additional music/show.

They don't do a lot for Mardi Gras anymore...no more full Bayou Bash, but they might still have a small parade with Tiana and some friends. They haven't announced anything for this year (although, they don't always make any kind of announcement). There might be a few special menu items at the restaurants in NOS (e.g., Blue Bayou, Cafe Orleans, French Market) and a few merchandise kiosks set up, but that's about it.

I expect there will be some special food items for a few days, and likely at least one of them will be a dessert. How much it resembles a king cake remains to be seen. Try calling Jazz Kitchen and the express and see if their of those will have them.

That's good news for my dad. He hates Mardi Gras and one of the reasons why they wanted to go during actual Mardi Gras at home! Ha!

Little Jewel of New Orleans in Downtown LA might have something. Orleans and York might, too. O&Y has a location in the Carson area

If I recall, the Jazz Kitchen in DtD does have a special Mardi Gras menu every year. I think there is King Cake on it.

I just saw a post from Portos Bakery that they will have a king cake. The Buena Park location is opening next week but not in time for Fat Tuesday
