Hey, can you guys tell me a bit about Mardi Gras. It will be happening on the last day of our vacation and I was wondering if we should check it out. As far as I know, the characters dress up in special costumes, but what else happens? Is there special shows or food or anything else on that day?

DLR doesn't really do anything special for Mardi Gras anymore. Some of the restaurants have a special dish (usually just the locations in NOS), there might be a few merchandise carts near the HM that sell Mardi Gras merchandise (beads and masks), and a pin. They used to do the Bayou Bash featuring Tiana and friends, but that was discontinued. I don't recall seeing the Mardi Gras costumes characters last year either, but I wasn't looking for them.

Yea, the small holidays like Lunar New Year and Cinco de Mayo tend to be announced with only a few days notice. I knew they didn't do anything for Mardi Gras in 2014 with all the NOS construction, but I couldn't remember if they brought it back this year or not. NOS has some Mardi Gras theming year round, so you'll see guests there celebrating, even if Disney doesn't do anything official.

Hmmmm that's strange. Why do you think they advertise it as a special event if they don't do anything special? That kinda sux.
Just trying to figure out if it's worth my while saving one of our days for Mardi Gras day or just not worry about it.

They have occasionally had more elaborate offerings, but the Mardi Gras stuff has been cut back in recent years. I think these days it's basically some extra character meet-and-greets in special costumes and some special foods like cupcakes and added menu items at places like French Market and/or Cafe Orleans.

Where are you seeing it advertised? They've taken it off the events page on their site, which is a sign they probably won't offer anything other than special food this year.
