Hey Everyone,

Was wondering how many of you from the Gulf Coast are heading down for Mardi Gras. We will arrive Feb 23, staying through March 1.

Didn't know if Mardi Gras attendance will be down due to Katrina.

This will be our sixth trip during Mardi Gras. :cool2:

We will be there Mardi Gras day! If I can't be in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, I'm gonna at least spend it with people from there LOL

Going during Mardi Gras here too! We are leaving Thursday after School and will return Mardi Gras day. We don't get the Wednesday off anymore and I am a teacher....I thought taking one personal day was enough. NOT!

So we all ought to meet up one night and have a drink in honor of good ole Mardi Gras!

Tara

I'll be there. We are leaving Fri, Feb 24 and coming back Sun March 5. Can't wait !!!!!!!

 We had a trip planned for Mardi Gras this year. Had to cancel because of the Hurricane. The kids are only off of school this year for one day. So, it looks like we'll be going next year instead.

Sorry to hear you had to cancel. :sad1:

Looking forward to seeing you next year.

We are arriving on the 24th and staying until March 1st. Our Thanksgiving trip was postponed till Mardi Gras due to the Hurricane, so we are very much looking forward to this trip. Lots of friends heading down as well, so I think there will be lots of New Orleaniens in WDW this year for Mardi Gras. We all need a little magic after the destruction we have had to deal with every day since August 29th!

We didn't have as much damage in Mobile, but I have in-laws in Long Beach, MS and their town was almost destroyed.

But if you are looking for magic, you are going to the right place. :sunny:

Tara , your right we should all meet and have a drink in honor of Mardi Gras and the Gulf Coast.

Glad to see so many people will be here for MG. What parks will everyone be at? I'm thinking MK for the day?

Can someone bring me some beads and Pat O's hurricane mix?

We are leaving right after school on Friday 24 and coming back on March 1st. Kids do not know yet, we plan on letting them figure it out on the way. I have one request for all New Orleanians and those from the surrounding areas that will be in the parks on Mardi Gras Day - show your... (now this is a family board what did you think I was going to say). Show your colors - wear your Purple Green and Gold shirts, pants, hair, beads, whatever. That way we will all know each other and "ax" each other "How ya mom an dem?"

Although I'm not from New Orleans (not even close . . . NH) let me just say it will be an honor and a privelege to be at WDW at the same time as all of you incredible folks from New Orleans and the other surrounding areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. I hope you all have a magical trip and you all certainly deserve a week of fun in a happy place after what you have all been through in the last year. Can't wait to see you all there! :goodvibes

Hi simba, I'm from Mobile too. :) We are going the 27th-3rd. We are going to be loaded down with beads.

We went last year & wore our beads to the MK. You would have thought that we were celebritites!LOL I have never been stared at so much. We took specific beads for certain characters (mushrooms for Alice, dragons for Sleeping Beauty, etc.) The characters loved it! My DD went to the Wonderland tea party & gave Alice her mushroom necklace. we also take a few bags of plain beads to give out.

Stich would NOT leave me alone! He wanted my dragon beads, but I promised my DD they were for SB (they were really cool beads), so this year I am making sure that I bring a set for Stich.

If y'all want to get together, let me know. And if I see anyone wearing their colors, I'll be sure to wave! Sbella

I can't wait to be surronded by my fellow New Orleanians. Maybe for once this place will feel like home - at least for one week or day LOL

We're not from the gulf coast but will be there. For those who go this week often, how are the crowds? Looks a lot busier than September crowds that I'm used to. We'll be there 2/24 - 3/3. I hope we won't be disappointed with the lines.

Mardi Gras fluctuates every year but crowds are normally thin except on weekends. This years Mardi Gras fall a week after presidents day. Which will increase the crowds significantly. :cool1:

We will be there from Feb 25- March 5. No little old Katrina could keep us from our yearly appointed Magical vacation. :wizard:
