Ok- Mardi Gras is just around the corner!! Who is running away and celebrating it with Mickey!!!

We'll be there-VWL 2/1-2/8-with our purple, green and gold:cool1: !!

My family will be there the same exact time!
What flight are you taking? :rotfl:
we might be on the same plane :rotfl:

We'll be at the Wilderness Lodge from 2/1-2/6, then switching to the Dolphin on 2/6, staying there through 2/9! W0Ot!

For the experienced Mardi Gras people,

What should we expect? We arrive the 6th.

How crowded is it that week usually?

Any tips?

Thanks!

We will also be fleeing the festivitities to enjoy what they say is usually a lighter than normal crowd. We'll see about that. I've posted on some other threads about the predicament I've put myself in. I'm riding in Bacchus Sunday night and catching the 810 flight the next morning. Just look for the whipped dude probably still wearing my costume! I'll be with two very excited kids, my wife and mother-in-law. We're staying at the Contemporary on the concierge level or something like that. The wife hopefully has everything planned by now. As long as there's two rounds of golf in there somewhere, I'll be fine. We HAVE to represent Mardi Gras Day somehow. I'll be loaded with beads so be on the lookout.

We will be there February 2 - 10! A week from now we will be in the magic again! By the time Mardi Gras day gets here we have been to several parades already so we don't feel like we are missing out on the celebration. The School Board decided to give our kids the entire week off... wooooooooo hoooooooo... Disney, here we come!!! We were there for Mardi Gras 2006 and the crowds were moderate. I am a little hesitant to guess what the crowd level will be this year. It seems as though everywhere I go, everyone I speak with about Disney, is skipping Mardi Gras and heading to Orlando. The flights out of N.O. have been completely booked for months now. Scary. Also, we made these arrangements in the fall and wanted to change resorts in December... no go. There was no availability to allow for the resort switch. Hmph. Well, whatever the crowd, doesn't matter, we are going to have a great time. We are meeting a number of friends while there. Its going to be phenomenal! See you guys there!!! :yay:

My kids loaded up on beads too!!!! I usually love the Bacchus parade and this will be the first year I missed it... but the kids can't ever go downtown so this will be a nice family trip for all of us.

I too think its going to be packed. Everywhere I go I meet someone else going to Disney that week :scared1: My 3 kids know 20 other families who are going from their school (small private school at that) I know 8 people from our neighborhood and just met someone at the hair salon who will be there :rotfl:
Oh and a family in line behind me at Walmart were talking about their trip and sure enough when I asked them, they were going to Disney.

My DS13 has 5 friends on his cell phone call list who are from his class and will be there ... they are all planning on getting together, ditching the parents and riding rides together at some point during the week :rotfl:

Even though it will be crowded I am hoping it will be a fun crowd... though I may end up knowing half of the people there :rotfl:
DH has been warning me nooooo throwing of my panties at Capt Jack as everyone we know will see me :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'll just have to listen for all those New Orleans accents. We may one of the few Northern families there.

I just hope it's not overly crowded. It's my Mom's 1st trip (almost 80) & she may get overwhelmed w/ the crowds. I thought I had picked a quieter time of year.

But, I totally understand why New Orleans families would want to escape for a nice little FAMILY vacation. I've never been to Mardi Gras, but I've heard the stories & see the pictures. Looks like fun, but not for kids.

If you see a family w/ two blonde haired boys 7 & 10 pushing there Nana in a wheelchair--say hi to us too! :cool1:

along w/ everyone you've ever known..........from your home town :rotfl:

It might be more crowded but we cajuns are a fun group!:lmao:

Just learn how to say:
Laissez Les Bon Temps Roule and you will fit right in!
