Anyone know how busy the weekend before mardi gras is usually. We always stay at Royal Pacific but rates that weekend are so high it's laughable. There are cheaper options (which I hate, but if we want to go...) would I need to purchase express pass? And for that matter purchasing express passes gives you unlimited or just one pass for the ride?

Not sure. Some of the crowds calendars are listing moderate crowds..You may or may not need the express pass.Alot depends on what you consider crowds and how you tolerate it.If you purchase the regular express pass, it is DATE specific, PARK specific and nonrefundable. It is also only good for ONE ride per attraction, unless you buy the unlimited version, which isnt cheap and it is often cheaper for one nights onsite stay

Mardi Gras really only affects crowds at the Studios and not until afternoon...IOA doesn't feel the crowds. Depending on who is performing that night, the Studios will get very busy towards late afternoon so lines could get long. The park is open until 8pm on most concert nights so everything will remain open until then.
