Hi, I am taking my daughter (7yrs old) to Florida in April (15th) just the 2 of us. We are from the Uk and not done the theme parks on our own before.

I think she would love the parade, and collecting beads etc. Is it safe for the 2 of us to go alone ?

We would have only arrived the day before.

We are staying on I drive at Quality Inn International.

Is it safe or doable to walk back late at night, or easy and cheap to taxi.

Any advice on where to stand, during the parade would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Safe yes, appropriate.. that may be your decision. You will see people drinking. You may even encounter a few that have been drinking too much, some vulgar language goes along with that.. some people stumble around when they are tipsy too.... so these are all things you have to take into account. Will you be attacked...NO.. you are safe in that aspect. Me personally, I don't think I took my kids at the age of 7. I want to say I waited until they were more around 11. Not that it makes that much of a difference but it was easier to explain it to them then.:goodvibes

Thanks for the heads up.... think we will see the parade and go.....

Any idea where best to stand, so we get a good view of paradde and a quick get away !!

Last year...I planted myself near Mel's and didn't have any issues with people trying to get in front of me. Lots of people came late but just stand your ground. Catching beads can be lots of fun too! ;)

Hi Lindy,

We've been taking our daughter since i think she was around 7 (maybe 8). I really see no problem except when people push to catch that necklace. Most people are very friendly and have even given my daughter a necklace or two, when they caught it. We usually stand around Mel's (there's a bathroom close by) I think it is totally safe. As for where you are staying, I'm not familiar with the area well enough to guide you.

Enjoy, we will be there this year!:goodvibes

We took our family when our dd was 5. We had a blast. We had no experiences that made us want to leave with her. We stayed most of the evening. She had so much fun.

We stand near Amity in the arcade area. That is the direction the parade begins in. You can get your beads, enjoy the parade and either cut across so you are over by the Simpsons then make a right and head out or you can stop by Mel's and catch the parade (and more beads) a second time. After you see the parade (either once or twice) head down Rodeo Drive to leave the park, that way you avoid the mess of people trying to get over to the concert. Your biggest concern with a child that age is getting separated, there will be a lot of people.

Check the park map, as they may still have "Little Jesters" viewing areas. These are family friendly areas and are exclusive to those with small children.
