I have a question about Mardi Gras. I will be there the first week in Feb. and was wondering what the crowds for Mardi Gras is, and what types of entertainment things they will have going on for this event? Thanks :jester:

Also wondering

We will be there 2/6-2/12 from New Orleans, wearing purple, green, and gold bringing our beads.

We have heard that 2 local bands are performing ina parade on MGday in the MK yet have not seen anythingposted or advertized.

Hi also from New Orleans going 2/3-2/8 wearing our colors and bringing beads!

My fiance lives in New Orleans.

He says that this is going to be a very slow year for Mardi Gras and that most of the hotels in the city aren't sold out. BUT you are still looking at probably hundreds of thousands of people in the French Quarter.

A few words of caution... don't EVER leave your drink alone. Don't let anyone else buy you a drink. Don't go off with people you don't know. Don't wander the French Quarter alone at any time (Mardi Gras or not).

The rest of the information, you should be able to find on this web site...

Thats the New Orleans web site.

Heh, hope that helps.

If your looking for Mardi Gras at Disney (not nearly as good as the real thing btw), then try calling Disney and asking them.

For those of us (myself included) that are long time New Orleans residents ... Disney at Mardi Gras time - IS much better!!!

But onto TinkerBell's questions - are you going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras or are you going to DisneyWorld during Mardi Gras time?

I am a new orleans resident, born and bred...I believe that Mardi Gras is the best celebration. Nothing else comes close. I am not talking about the drunken flashing coeds, I am talking about the real Mardi Gras. The floats, the parades, the balls, the throws...etc. This is the second time I have missed it.

I saw some online that plans have been made at DTD to celebrate Mardi Gras on PI. They will have decorations and some street performances going on.

I interpreted the question to mean Mardi Gras events @ WDW, not N.O.

I am also a N.O. native and there is truly nothing like Mardi Gras in N.O., I've only missed MG 5 times out of 37, and all of them were due to skiing, or WDW
I hate missing the parades and the crowds, oh, wait I'm going to WDW I'll still have parades and crowds!!

:jester: As a lifetime resident of Mobile and having enjoyed almost 40 years of glorious parades, marching bands, moonpies, dubloons and dancing...I can't wait to spend this Mardi Gras at WDW!!!! I read somewhere that there is a mini-parade at POFQ and that Downtown Disney had some special activities. Anyway, a day at Disney is truly priceless especially when little ones are there! Have a great Mardi Gras! :flower1:

Just pack your own moon pies and necklaces and throw them to the crowd as you pass by. I can guarantee you will make a lot of new friends this way! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
