We will be there from 3/20-3/26. I have read about the parade and was wondering if it will still be going on when we're there. If so, where is it and what time?

They have not annouced any info about mardi gras yet but hopefully they will soon:jester:

Assuming Mardi Gras is underway at the time you're going, it will ONLY be occurring your first night, which is a Saturday.

Universal Orlando Entertainment announced to its employees a few weeks back that Mardi Gras has been reduced to SEVEN NIGHTS TOTAL this year. Seven Saturdays ONLY. So, like I said, that Saturday would be the only night, IF its started.

I don't know anything about Mardi Gras at Universal Studios, but Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras Day) is February 24, 2004 , so if they are going to do it just 7 Saturdays prior, I'm assuming it would be 1/3, 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7 and 2/14. (Of course, you know what happens when you assume something!)

From what I have read, Universal often runs the parade AFTER Fat Tuesday (and Ash Wed). Not the way it's done in New Orleans, but that was my understanding of how Universal did it. I heard a rumor that it might be the weekend of Feb. 28 or the sat. before.
This is all rumor of course.

Thanks for the info UOEntertainmentguy. Have you heard of any other changes for other events like Grinchmas, etc?

***? There will be a lot of disappointed people, I'm sure, if that is true.

Must admit I am suprised that they are scaling mardi gras down as last years was pretty popular hope they do it all weekend instead of just saturdays:jester:

For all intents and purpsoes, everything else is getting bigger. Macy's will have more floats and performers, and Grinchmas will be adding an extra Grinch's Cave.

Mardi Gras is too big of a draw to be scaled down. I can understand the cutbacks prior to the Spring Break Peak, but that's about it.

Eh, things can still change. Mardi Gras doesn't start for many more months anyway...

That would be just AWEFUL!!
One of my favorite parts of Mardi Gras is that I had such a wide window in terms of when we could go.
