From past events, anyone know what bands/kinds of bands appear? Are the y known acts or local/nightclub bands.

The headline acts from the past have been performers like Heart, Kelly Clarkson, Donna Summer, Pat Benatar and KC & the Sunshine Band...just to name a few. Universal will try to book popular acts for the Saturday shows. For the smaller Friday and Sunday concerts in the NY area, they are mostly local/bar bands but still enjoyable.

Since I'm a newbie, I'm still a little confused. Looking at the map, it's a little tough for me to figure to the parade route.

So is the best place for the parade by Monsters or Mels Diner?

It depends on if you are seeing the concert or not. If you are, you should stay near Monsters. If you are NOT seeing the concert, anywhere along the route is fine.

The route from last year had it stepping off between JAWS and the Fear Factor theater. It went down towards Starbucks, then around Mel's towards the Universal store, up the main drag towards Mummy then ended near Beetlejuice.

I saw it last year at the end of Amity/beginning of San Fransisco and it was GREAT! Hardly any people, so MORE beads for us. When the parade passed us, we leisurely strolled towards Beetlejuice, waited five minutes, and the parade came by again. Since that is the end of the route, and the parade performers are trying to get rid of the last of the beads, some times you catch five or six in a single throw! We walked away with TONS of beads!

I heard that you can actually get picked to be a bead thrower... does anyone know anyhting about this?
