mardi gras in disney

Any other Louisianians going to WDW for Mardi Gras? I can't wait. Where are you staying? I still can't decide. Have any of you gotten any discounts for that time?

Hi Stephill

We went last Mardi Gras for a week and also did the cruise. We stayed at the POR. The service there was excellent

We would stay there again We went through a travel agency and received a large discount on the whole package.

We will be going again this Mardi Gras for a short stay and will probably stay at POR. It was kind of crowded. Saw a lot of other people we knew getting away from the Mardi Gras crowds



Stephill are you from the New Orleans area?

Mine and my DH families live there. We were born and raised in New Orleans. We were transferred to Lafayette, LA about 4 years ago. We love it here. We don't care for Mardi Gras that much. I would much prefer to be in disney. A few of my friends from Lafayette are going Mardi Gras week too. The kids only have to miss 2 days of school. Hopefully it's not too crowded. Oh, if you have to stop somewhere overnight, like I do, you may want to get reservations now. The superbowl is Feb 6th in Jacksonville, FL. I doubt we have to worry about Saints fans being on the road with us, but we can always hope for a miracle.

And please, all you smarta##'s, don't tell me it is on a Tuesday. It is hard to resist and I would be guilty of it as well.
We are planning on going from Feb 2-6 and didnt even think about Mardi gras.

Mardi Gras is 2/8/2005. Our kids are out of school for 2/7 - 2/9. I'm going to let my DD miss the Thursday and Friday.

I have heard that Pleasure Island has a pretty good event for Mardi gras. I assume that will be on Fat Tuesday the 8th. But are there any Mardi Gras type events that might happen the weekend before? Anyone know?

We are going for Mardi Gras 2/4 to 2/12. I didn't know the Super Bowl was in Feb. I always thought it was in Jan. My dd, as well as several family member's children will be missing 3 days of school. I can't wait to go back to the house of mouse. We are having a Grand Gathering of about 25 people. This will be a new experience for us, we normally only have group of 5 to 12 people with us.

We are also from Lafayette. Mardi Gras here is really good for families.
But we too are taking advantage of this week for Disney, because the kids will only miss 2 days of school. We are staying at Pop Century.
We went during Thanksgiving last year and it was crowded. So we opted for Mardi Gras this year. Keeping fingers crossed for codes.......

you are right, we do not have to worry about the Saints in the Superbowl!!

We are probably going from that Monday through Thursday of Mardi Gras week.

I rather be in the crowds at Disney then at Mardi Gras

Just thought you all might want to know that many of the New Orleans schools (especially the private schools) have the whole week off - therefore, many go to Disney for the whole week.

Forget the Saints - last year it was all purple and gold everywhere you looked!!!

Hello to all of you who have posted from Lafayette, we'll be coming to Lafayette for the Cajun Festival - Sept 17-19!!
Its a great time - we've been going since 1982!!! Dinner at Prejeans on Saturday night - wonderful!!!!

BTW, my DD is off the whole week for Mardi Gras too! We are thinking about going to Disney for Mardi Gras 2006!
