I am wondering if anyone has any input on a couple different time frames? March 28-April 3 or July 26 - 31? I know weather will be warmer in July but what about crowds is that peak spring break time? Thanks

Tough call. I would suggest the March/April trip over July.

July is summer break for the kids so you'll get more tourists and while it is nice weather it's also asking for hot hot hot days which only further wears on you while you stand in line.

The downside to late March is that you risk hitting a bunch of spring break tourists. I'd suggest checking some SoCal school districts to see if they have it off. If so, it's a dicey call.

However, if you pick the right March week it's very nice people wise and the weather, while cool at night, tends to be just right during the day.

Spring Break brings people from all over and ranges from mid-March to mid-April. It will be crowded during that time. Late July of course has summer crowds. I have been in July and August, but not Spring Break so can offer no direct comparisons. From what I read around here Spring Break crowds are worse than summer weekday crowds. But I suspect the difference will not be huge.

As far as July and opinions that it will be hot, that is of course a relative statement. I find the summer temperatures at DLR to be ideal - with the occasional heat wave making it uncomfortably hot.
