I'll try to get another image in, but for some reason I'm having resizing issues :confused3

By the way, great pics everyone! :thumbsup2

Could someone let me know how I can vote please. I have looked all around here and can't see how it's done. :rolleyes1

Hi the comp. is open to entries until this weekend. Joh will then post polls in which you can vote for your fav. picture.

Really like the second one Rob, I had a shot of a rose the same colour I very nearly entered.
Love the composition:thumbsup2

Thanks Matt, l really liked your first pic and was gonna drop you a line but ran out of time. When I was flicking through I new it was your photo without looking at who posted from the style of shot.

Do you take a tripod with you? i want to take mine but not lug it around :confused3

Cheers mate.

Yes I do take a tripod with me, but tend to only ever take it out at night if I am planning on taking shots at night. Not really anything in the day I need a slow shutter speed for.

I've got a Velbon Ultra Maxi F, which is pretty light and only around 14" long when collapsed so it's not too much of an issue. I can sort of hook it on my belt in the middle of my back so I don't need to carry it, but it looks a little odd!

Makes such a difference to the night-time shots I think, especially if you want to get some clever Wishes or Illuminations shots. Also, I managed to get some shots of the Tree of Life in November which I was really pleased with and which simply couldn't be done without a tripod, (if you can track down my trip report you'd seem 'em) you'll seem them when a suitable subject comes up:thumbsup2

I know some people leave a tripod in a locker for the day and get it at night if they're at a park all day.

Same as alot of things to me, when you're there it seems like a real pain, but months later looking back at the shots I'm always glad we did it - our AK shots are a prime example, not only did we have to take the tripod around but, it poured with rain for an hour or so when it got dark so the easiest thing would've been to give up. Looking back at the shots I'm glad we didn't!

as you say Matt a tripod makes so much difference. I have a Velbon but the Sherpa 450R which is about 26 inches and 2.5 times heavier than yours so not ideal to lug all day. Did consider a locker, might have to consider one of those ultra lights things that you have ;)

I've had it for a few years now and think it's really good - doesn't even take up much space in the suitcase!
