I need some expert advice here. DH and I are teachers and with two kids in school our travel time choices are limited. Our choices for 2006 are spring break-3rd week in March (Easter is in April) or early June. I know Disney hotels might be more expensive in March and the weather will be better in March, but what about the CROWDS? Help please! TIA!!

I would go in June when the kids is out in the summer and I know the weather would be good swimming weather.

We're going for the rides, not swimming. Who has gone both of these times and can compare crowds for me? TIA

We've gone both times and the crowds at Spring Break (March) are definitely more than the first of June. But if you get into the second week of June you are into thick summer crowds and very hot weather. My DH hates hot weather and says it's easier standing in lines when it's cooler than hotter. I don't mind the heat and love Disney both times.

what is "spring break" considered?? we are going the second week in march specifically becos we thought it wouldnt be too crowded.... :guilty:

Our spring break is usually before/after Easter; in 2006 however, we will have the 3rd week in March off, and Easter is in mid-April. That's why I'm thinking of going in March. We went the second full week in June this year and it was SO hot, and BIG storms every evening. Crowds were quite managable, so if I can get the same crowds with better weather in March, I'll take it! Any others have comments on March Spring Breaks without Easter attached?

Your crowds in March (third week) shouldn't be any worse than the second full week in June. There are a lot of midwest schools who have that week for Spring Break so expect people.
Regarding the weather in March, pack with layers. We have been in shorts part of the week and in warmer apparel and raincoat another part. You should be able to get a reasonable idea of what the weather will be as it get closer and you check online, then pack accordingly.

I think the second and even third weeks of June would be much better than anytime in March. With every school system taking a different Spring break and throwing in the college kids, the whole month is crowded. As mentioned, many northern schools go until the end of June.

We went last year for the 4th of July week. It was much less crowded than what we had seen in March. Very hot, though.

I just wonder (hope!) if more people will be going in April next year, versus March, because Easter is in April...any thoughts experts?

I'd take March any day over June. If your Spring break is not tied to Easter next year, than that is what I'd do. In fact, we will probably be there at that same time. I hate the heat, and even if crowds might be a little worse, than I would still take the March trip. JMHO. The crowds won't be low at either time, but since Easter is in April, peoples Spring Breaks will be different all over the country. Our's is usually the 3rd or 4th week in March, regardless of when Easter falls.

I was looking at the unofficial guides touring plans, and all the other weeks in March are rated much lower in attendance(with the exception of Easter week), than any week in June. It would be great if you could see a copy of last years touring guides, since Easter was in April then. It might be a better comparison. Just something to think about.

I lent my UG from 2004 to my SIL, so I can't check! I wonder if any UG folks out there can offer some info...Any way to track down Len? I bet he'd know!!! :D

When you said all of the other weeks were rated lower, did you mean all of March is rated lower in attendance than June EXCEPT for the 3rd week? Is that for this year...2005? That would two weeks before Easter, right?

Hi,
I am not able to answer your question but I will say that I think Easter is March 27th this year. Hope this helps.

I'm looking at NEXT year, 2006; Easter is April 16th, I would like to go the 3rd week in March. Thanks anyway.
