Goals:
No buy: 12 days
Eating out: No more than 4 meals
Groceries: $250
Entertainment: $75/$66 left

3/1 $0 :)
3/2 $9 for two Fandango movie tickets @ livingsocial.com

No Buy days: 1/12

1: $0!
2: $12.39

$0 Days: 1
Spending: $12.39/$475 = 3%
Days Passed: 2/31 = 6%

My Goal: To keep spending to within $475 for food, gas, and miscellaneous. I do not track bills; I only track "point of sale" transactions.

I went to Walgreens and spent 9.15 but I saved 8.20. I also bought an app from the iPhone App Store for 2.99, so I'm estimating the tax on it to be a total of 3.24. I'll change it when I get the actual number later.

Thirding the thoughts on this! And, Sunnie, feel better soon!

Here's my plan:
1. I will only track PoS transactions-cash, cc, or debit-usually, groceries and gas, although this month there will be a couple of birthday gifts, and my running shoes need to be replaced [there goes $200]
2. Bills paid regularly, including all charity, not included, nor all items that are budgeted for (eg. DD's music trips....money is already set aside-I'll note them, but they don't count)
3. Whatever 'fun' money DH spends i.e. junk food, on himself....not counting
4. I anticipate some eating out this month-birthday and March Break
5. Gas....there is no telling!
6. I would like to aim for 10 No Buy days. Something to shoot for.

Great start.
Mar. 1: DH took the car in for a needed oil change. Found other issues (I knew there was something) Maintenance $434, gas $40
Mar. 2: $0

NO BUY DAYS: 1/10

March 1-$0 :yay:
March 2- Met my wonderful hubby for lunch. He needed a break, and we had a $5 off coupon. My lunch was only $7, so we figured $2 for me to eat and I brought home enough for us both to have lunch tomorrow. Then I spent $4 on new gloves (8 pairs) for the kids, they seem to lose them like crazy. :confused3 Hubby and I went to a prescreening of a movie tonight, it was awful, but he liked it. It was called Cedar Rapids. We didn't buy anything there. I did buy groceries as well. Will record those tomorrow cause I need to dig out the receipt. I got a call while we were at the movies that I don't have to work tomorrow after all. So happy about that, have lots to do in the morning tomorrow.

Happy March 2nd (Dr. Seuss' birthday!)

We celebrated! We have a tradition. Every year on March 2nd we have Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast while we listen to Bon Jovi music (it's Jon's b-day too.) My favorite author and my favorite singer. :lovestruc I was a little sad today, I subbed at preschool and none of the kids knew who Dr. Seuss was. :confused3 I read them some books but they don't have The Cat in the Hat so they didn't get why I had painted it on my hands. Then my DD9 came home (in her Cat in the Hat shirt and covered in face and hand painting, Green Eggs and Ham, One Fish, Two Fish, etc and she said not even her teacher knew it was his b-day and they didn't do anything for it. I am just such a fan, we always celebrate today. Like I said, we have had green eggs and ham for years, even my 16 year old still expects them (on the first day of school too.) :thumbsup2

March 1st: (Gas)$61.90 - (Groceries) $60.13 - (Household - vitamins, shampoo etc) $28.59
I also dropped $155.12 at Kohls on DH's clothes for work - this isn't a true figure cause I will end up returning at least half the clothes - I am his personal shopper and what he doesn't like/doesnt fit goes back on Sat.
March 2nd - $0 I was actually hoping for a buy day today - I wanted to buy our plane tickets for WDW in Sept, but my rewards cc did not come in the mail today  I have the money to pay it off right away from taxes, but why not earn the points!

$60.13/$425 Groc.
$61.90/$150 Gas
$28.59/$75 Household

March 1: $1.59 for bubble envelopes and a bottle of water at CVS - I had a $4 ECB I used. (I usually use them smarter than this but it was about to expire) and $17.46 at the grocery store. (But they were having a daily special on pasta sauce and I got two jars for 99c each.)

March 2: $0! I went out to dinner with a friend but it was their treat.

Tomorrow DD has a band concert but there's quick-fix stuff at the house to eat so no need to order pizza or get fast food :cool1: so I'm hoping for another no-buy day.

Awww... well, you'll be happy to know that my DD's kindergarten center is having Cat in the Hat week. Each day, they wear something based on one of his books. Yesterday was Grinch day and today was red/white/black day and she came home with a Cat hat she made. Maybe your preschool kids know the new PBS kids show with the Cat... it's not bad. You're such a good mom, BTW. I never think of doing stuff like that.

My son's school (he is in second grade) did this last month for some reason...but then they also had a "Million Minutes" challenge going on. We were supposed to log all of his reading time each day and sign the form each day, and he brought it in once a week and the teachers added up all the minutes. We got a LOT because he had to read a book to do a book report, and because we were allowed to count the time we spent reading Harry Potter chapters to him before bed.

I do after-school tutoring, and yesterday I had my first and second graders. They had pajama day and also had paper "cat in the hat" hats which were very cool, and they were so excited about telling me they had green eggs and ham for breakfast at school! (DS' daycare also did this when he was 3, you should have seen the kids eyeing the food with suspicion...toddlers are so particular anyhow, it was a hoot!) :lmao:

Also...we are Jewish so we don't eat ham...DS informed me that I could make the dish using turkey ham. Too bad he doesn't eat eggs or I would have! :confused3

yesterday I spent $5 admission to go to my DD12's show chorus competition. It was well worth the price, I totally cried but I'm a sap that way, I cry at everything. I also grabbed a cheap drive-thru dinner before teaching class.

03/01 - $0 spent
03/02 - $5 admission Show Chorus competition & $3.00 at KFC

1 down - at least 9 to go.

Here we go:
Mar 1: 56.07 Birthday gifts for DBIL and DN, $12.20 for Amazon peanut butter (seemed like a good deal)
Mar 2: Not starting out very well! have to get past these birthdays...$98.34 groceries (bday dinner for 13, dog food, beer..etc), $46.00 DH gas (some will be reimbursed..he has to go to a town 90 miles away for a continuing ed class)

$597.39/$800.00 remaining
AGGHH!!!

We are buying our Disney tickets this month so I am jumping on the "No Buy March" bandwagon! My goal is to spend ONLY on the tickets this month and no other purchases.

Glenda

I've never done this before, but I am looking forward to seeing how many no buy days I can manage! So far...

3/1 - $0
3/2 - $80 (gift for very close friend & gas)
3/3 - $0 so far today (drank water at work with lunch I brought from home, instead of buying diet coke from machine.)
