Hi everyone! So my daughter is cheering at Disney in March and I have no control over my trip this go around because we have to go through the cheer company to book everything. I am about to lose my mind :rotfl2:!! I am not getting a lot of information but I think from what I have been told we are staying at one of the "All Star" Resorts so I was trying to get some info on those. I'm a little spoiled as I've been staying at Coronado Springs and Port Orleans French quarter. I also was wondering if since booking with the cheer company and staying at the all star resort would we have magic bands? Or do they still give the cards as well?

Also this will be my first time going in March so I was wondering about crowds and weather. We will be there on the 17-23.

And no dining plan this time either so any advice on great places to eat "off the dining plan"?

Sorry for so many questions :cheer2: cheer mom is overwhelmed with not being able to plan her own trip.

So I have gone 6 times to the world with cheer competitions. All but 2 of those trips I have stayed at All Star. Most of the time you are in Sports or Music. Be prepared that anywhere there is free space at the resort teams will be practicing, loudly. The resort is not bad. The beds aren't the most comfortable. Because everyone is going to be going to the same events the dinning hall gets really crowded. To get to WWoS you will usually take the bus from the parking lot between Music and Sports or take a bus to HS then another bus to WWoS. I haven't been since Magic Bands but my old team got them last year. So I guess you get them. But you won't be able to plan on the days you compete because you won't know the schedule till the week before usually.

This trip won't be like what you are used to. Be ready to go with the flow and go more relaxed and unplanned. You there for a competition not just a vacation and that will be the same as all the local competitions. The competition venues are surprisingly small and you will need to get there early so you can get a seat that you can actually see. Most come at the awards or end of the session before you. There is no saving seats. You will still be able to have a fun time, it's just going to be different than your used to. There is usually one or two days that a park is open late to just the competition. That is fun. I have had parties at HS, AK, and MK. Don't be surprised if your daughter has practice while there. I always have had at least one practice a day until we were done competing. But we had lots of free time and I was able to enjoy every park and DTD every trip.

Be prepared for your daughter to be sick on the way home because she will be going so much that her immune system will be down and will cause her to get sick. I always came home with at least a cold along with 70% of my team. So take vitamins and wash your hands as much as possible. Try to eat healthy. If you have the option have bottle water and Gatorade in you room so she can bring it for practices and the competition. Energy bars are also helpful.

We will be at UCA at WWoS for the same competition. We have been before but I am probably little help to you as I have never stayed at an All Stars. In fact, we usually stay off property, but we are considered a local team (we are from Tampa). It's a great competition! We have never gotten any park tickets from UCA so your gym must be booking a package. We also don't go to the parks when we are there for cheer. At most, we might go to DTD. I do have friends who hit the parks as often as possible after a cheer competition but they are annual pass holders.

Our gym WILL NOT allow our kids to ride rides the day before competition. Something about it throwing off their equilibrium.

My daughter is a flyer on Senior 4 Coed. :cheer2: She's 11 but this is her 9th year as an all star cheerleader. She did 2 years rec for her brothers football team before then.

Have fun! What state are you coming from?

==== oops, replied to wrong post. I meant to reply to second poster. =====

I have never had my daughter get sick or overwhelmed from a Disney competition. Our gym recommends Emergen-C vitamin prior to competition to help prevent them from catching anything. Not sure but we have not had an issue. My daughter is in sixth grade but last year she started having routine headaches. I started headaches about the same age. So I always be sure to carry meds for headaches and give it to her the night before and morning of competition because of course when your head hurts you don't want to tumble.

Three cheerleaders later I have been to UCA several time and Worlds more times that I can count. Here are a few thoughts:

All-Stars - You get what you pay for. The rooms have paper thin walls and there are cheerleaders EVERYWHERE in any open spot practices, cheering and playing, but that is part of the great fun for the kids.

Usually the park tickets are hoppers and they use the cards not the magic bands unless you are doing an upcharge of some sort. The cards slide into the nametag pouches the competition gives out. Most gyms will have a practice of some sort on the property.

The cheerleading venue doesn't allow any seat saving and you will be standing in the "fan section" and herded in and out quickly. Plan on eating before or after as the eating options are not very many.

This trip will be fun but unlike your other trips. Think of it as a cheer competition with a little field trip to Disney. Being flexible and knowing it isn't a Disney trip helps!

You will have a great time and good luck!

luckily our spring break starts 3/9 so we are staying at disney for the week!

Now that the trip is over any advice for someone traveling with a sports team. We are going with our sons baseball team next year. We have stayed at all star sports 3 time so I'm familiar with it but the group travel makes me nervous.
