We all spent some time walking around the pool deck and then talked in the cove café for a while. We saw a few of the girls who had not been able to make lunch, and joined them for some ping-pong by the pool. At 1:45 they were doing Fun In the Sun, an activity by the goofy pool with several mini competitions for everyone to do. We continued playing ping-pong, until the girls decided they wanted to go hula hooping. Somehow, I ended up on the goofy pool stage pretending like I knew how to hula-hoop. It is a good thing I am a comedian because I was definitely making people laugh. Add that to the list of things I will only do on a Disney cruise. Everyone decided to hang out in Quiet Cove and go swimming. I was in a stay dry kind of mood so I grabbed Mom who was relaxing with the group in the Cove and we headed down to Rich Purpuras Magic Workshop at 2:30 in Rockin Bar D. This was a kids and family activity, but I just love watching Rich Purpura, that man is hilarious.
After the show Mom went to the Vista Spa for a massage and I grabbed Dad from the room. We went to the future cruise desk to make a few bookings. There were a few people ahead of us, but while we were waiting in line, we ran into Dave, someone we had met and gone on an excursion with on our Mexican Riviera cruise. By some crazy chance we once again ended up on exactly the same cruise, so we talked for a while. Finally we made it to the desk. We rebooked our Med cruise in a verandah stateroom, 20% off, YAY! And booked the same Spring Break week for 2010. After finishing our bookings I wandered around the ship for a little while and then headed back to the stateroom to change so we could get down to the atrium for the Captains reception. The Captains reception started at 5:15 and we headed down around 5:30. There are severs walking around the 3rd and 4th floor portions of the atrium with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Soul Drive was playing in the atrium and all of the officers were around in their formal uniforms.
I noticed the short line for photos with the Captain and hopped right in. Michelle, the cruise staffer who joined us for lunch, was running the line so we chatted for a while, and I was then introduced to the Captain. After speaking with the Captain for a moment, my family and I got into a conversation with Clayton, the assistant Cruise Director and the food and beverage manager, very cool people. We ran into Jan and Henry, and I ended up in a very cool conversation with Brent about a lot of the stuff involved in his job, he is a very cool guy.
Everyone started heading to dinner and the officers were heading out. We talked to Tisa for several minutes and she commented on how much she loved having the College Club in Rockin Bar D every night. Not only is the crew of the Magic incredibly friendly, but also by this time in the cruise, a good number of them were calling us by name, it really adds so much to the experience. It was time for dinner so we headed into Lumieres, our seat was pretty close to the door so we didnt have far to go.
Richard and Sammy were all dressed up and we were greeted with our drinks immediately.
I always love the Golden Mickeys menu and I had the beef wellington that I was so looking forward to. The Golden Mickeys chocolate award was amazing.
It was great to be in Lumieres on formal night, it really adds a lot to the experience. During dinner, we also celebrated our neighbor's anniversary, and they received buttons and a delicious cake.
After dinner, everyone went to the theatre well I went up to deck 9 to grab drinks for my parents. It was a beautiful night with the stars shining and calm seas. The Golden Mickeys was as wonderful as ever; it is my second favorite DCL show. My favorite was Hercules but that is no longer around.
After the show I said goodnight to my parents and went up to deck 9 for a while, Fantasia was finishing up on the Ariel View so I watched a few minutes of that. My friends and I had decided to meet up in Rockin Bar D at 10 for Ricky Kalmons hypnosis show at 10:15. The show was even funnier than the one the night before. This is one of the coolest and most original acts Disney has brought onboard. After the show Soul Drive played for an hour and then turned it over to DJ Dan. We all danced for a while, and then the people with early morning excursions had to go to bed. A few of us played some basketball on the empty court, and then headed off to bed. A great day at sea on the Disney Magic.
