March 6th, 2010 7 Night Western

We haven't even gone on this cruise yet (it will be our first) and we are already looking at booking the next one. After seeing that some of your are nearly professional cruisers - going several times a year, we figured that this must be awesome (duh, it's Disney - of course it is awesome)!

My question - has anyone done the cruise over Christmas? Comments?

BTW, TOTALLY EXCITED!!!!!

THKS!!!

have'nt done a cruise over christmas, maybe one day I will, but did got on December and have to say love how the ship is decorated:cool1::thumbsup2

Got our confirmation today. I was surprised we were upgraded since we booked so close to the cruise. The extra space will be nice since traveling with my daughter, I now know how Ginger had all those clothes for a 3 hour tour.

edit from daughter: hey, I'm the one who came up with that saying! thankyouverymuch. :p And I need choices!! :lmao:

We were the same way. We had booked a 7 day before we even sailed on our 4 day! We were able to reshop it onboard and save a little money. This cruise will be #3 for us. #4 is in November on the Wonder, our freebie DVC cruise. We're going to look onboard at maybe making that a B2B. We have fallen in love with DCL.

We have booked a Christmas cruise for 2011, 8 night Mexican Riviera. So we are hoping a Christmas cruise will be worth it!

We did a cruise just before Christmas and it is probably still one of our favorite cruises. Disney makes Christmas incredibly special. Tree in the atrium, giant gingerbread house, decorations everywhere. Special Christmas events and snow on CC. We have not been able to do it in a few years, but now have a pre Christmas cruise this December on the Wonder and next December on the Dream. Christmas and DCL is an awesome combo.

Just read your blog, I love your detailed descriptions. Gosh - makes me want to get a suite for that conciege service - NICE!!!

The enhancements at Castaway Cay sound awesome - when is the proposed open date, do you know?

Thanks!!!! The enhancements at Castaway Cay are opening in stages. When I was there in January the slide was almost done, so there is a tiny chance it may be open for our cruise. The cabanas had not made great progress, and neither had Spring-a-Leak, so I think those areas will probably be open around early to mid May. Cookies Too is getting pretty close to completion, but my guess is that it won't be open until its needed for the Dream, why make more food if the one place is good enough.

If anybody is wondering, they have started construction at Port Canaveral and the foundation is in for the terminal expansion. I would guess the parking ramp is about 3-4 months out and the terminal about 9-10 months. So far there is no effect on the arrival experience, we have had nothing but smooth check-ins since construction started.

Thanks again for doing that. Hopefully this is a new precedent that we can start for DISmeets. You know something funny though. Facebook has really taken over my life. I went to click "like" on your post before realizing that forums don't have like buttons. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

It's funny, I always want to add a smilie on Facebook and am frustrated when I can't! :headache:

I'm hoping too that the slide opens soon! It looks FUN! I am wondering though if they will wait until the cabanas are open, so that whole beach area is ready for guests and there's zero construction going on.

I plan on Serenity Bay for this cruise!!!! NO kids!! A drink in my hand and my toes in the sand...:cloud9:

See here I go with the smilies again! Although I do love FB too, even my DH does Facebook.

I'm loving to fact everyone else seems to be getting snow and where I am we haven't got anything:cool1::thumbsup2

We have some snow. Not a lot of snow (for us anyway)...the problem here is that it is just so darn cold! I just looked it up, right now it is 20 degrees but windchill makes it 8. The sad part is I don't think we've broken 32 degrees in at least 3 weeks. I am so looking forward to being able to go outside without 3 - 4 layers on!

Hmmm...I have been complaining about the 35 degree weather and how awesome the cruise will be. Maybe I need to be thankful for my temperature and no snow + upcoming cruise instead of complaining. I hope all of you guys with snow will stay safe!

We just thawed out of our snow here in middle TN. And I LOVED that you posted the cruise weather!!!!
I CAN'T WAIT!!!
Thanks for sharing:cheer2:

Here's our latest update: Currently 25 degrees outside with a winter storm warning. Accumulation expected to be between 8 and 12 inches. How many days until that cruise again???

25 Days!

Our weather and forecast here in northern New Jersey is almost identical to yours.

Oh well, at least I'm not in south Jersey where they will get new snow on top of the two feet from this past weekend.

We are definitly excited. We head down in 3 weeks exactly. Even the hubby is in on the countdown now!

I cannot wait. It is in the low 40's right now and there is a 60% chance of snow. Did I mention I live in Florida and it hasn't snowed here since 1989. UGH! Let's go cruising!!!

anyone else here into basketball? I am and NBA All-Star Weekend is this weekend. So I'll be watching that:cool1:
