March 31-April 7, 2007 Eastern...3rd try :-)

dpuck-

I am so jealous!! I could use a WDW fix about right now. Have a great time and fill us in on all the details when you return!

Hey, if anyone is interested on cheap pirate stuff, head to the dollar section at Target. I picked up hats, eye patches, hooks and glow-in-the-dark skull necklaces. They had very cute black vests and red bandanas for the youngsters, too! I also hit the clearance racks at Kohls and found cute baby doll tees with Pirates of the Caribbean stuff on them for the teens and some cool pirate t-shirts in the boys department. My DH will not dress up as a pirate and I'm not really into that wench thing so we will wear tropical themed duds unless I find acceptable pirate t-shirts.

scrapindisney-

Looks like we'll be at the Residence Inn with you. We rented a passenger van for 7 of us (plus luggage) and my brother will most likely rent a van for his family of five. Come join us on the Doubloon in St. Thomas - it sounds like a lot of fun! I think we will just head to a beach in St. Maarten. And the teens will ride the banana boats on CC.

As far as Palo goes, we have brunch ressies on Monday at 10:30 and dinner ressies on Wednesday at 7. Everyone here is getting excited, too!

Hey guys...just got back from EPCOT and sitting at home (BCV) relaxing after a long day. Hope all is well, I think once we get back the cruise will really seem "real" for all of us. This was our test also to see how we did without the 2 yo, since she left with Grammy while we stayed at the World. So far so good.

Ahh...back to the real world. Woke up to about 4 inches of snow on the ground....welcome home ehh...

Right now we are booked for Palo on Sun at 6:30 and Tues at 8:00.

Welcome back to reality, dpuck!

How was your WDW trip? Are you writing a trip report? Give us the details when you have a chance!

OK, fellow cruisers-

What are the men/boys wearing to formal night/semi-formal/Palo?

How about the women/young ladies?

Anyone dressing up for Pirate Night?

Also, what are some of your favorite nightlife activities? And are your teens planning to go to the teen club?

Lots of questions - just trying to jumpstart our quiet little thread!

I'm going to write a trip report as soon as I get a free night.

I'll be wearing a tux and my wife a formal gown on formal night. Not sure about the others. Prolly just a suit.

I'll wear a pirate t-shirt, but my boys will dress up in costumes.

dunno about nightlife..first cruise...I like to sit and chill...no teens...

Don't know if anyone else noticed or not, but opening the day before we leave is Meet the Robinsons!! We'll get to see a brand new movie...cool ehh..

While you are freezing in MI we are pulling out the shorts and flip flops...suppose to be 80 here today on Superbowl Sunday!
For formal night the guys will wear suits and the ladies dresses. When we were on our 2005 Mexico I saw very few tuxes and ball gowns but I have never been on the Carribean cruises so not sure what is common.
Time is getting closer!!! Is everyone ready???
We just booked another cruise! LOL We haven't been on #2 yet and here we booked #3 for summer of 2008. We are doing the Mexico Riviera again since the Magic will be practically in our own backyard ( we live about 30 minutes from the port)

scrapindisney- Very cool about the 2008 cruise! I saw there was quite a bit of action and controversy on the boards about those cruises. Hope you got what you wanted!

Meet the Robinsons - haven't read up on that one yet but I'm sure my kids will be thrilled to see a first-run flick on the big screen.

From my experience on the eastbound cruise 2 years ago, I'd say tuxes were at about 20-25 percent and the women were about half and half for long versus short dresses. My philosophy is to just look your best (whatever that means for you) and more importantly act your best! I think we are going with tuxes for the guys and half long, half short for the women.

Anyone with teens - have you seen anywhere if they can sign up for any teen excursions before the cruise? If so, are your teens planning on any?

Hi ship mates! Minniesota - are we neighbors? Sunnyca - I am originally from LA.

I am a SAHM, DH and I are bringing ds who will turn 11 and DD who is almost 8.

I will try to read all the postings, but I wanted to jump in. We got a last minute room in the bowels of the ship - rm 2004! but I have been told its quiet.

Its our 2nd cruise and we are so xcited to go!!

Welcome!
My DS will be 8 on the sail date, you should be able to pick him out. He'll be the 8 yo that will likely be the tallest in the 8/9 yo group. I'll have a 6 yo too, but I think we are going to let them goto seperate kids clubs since the 8 yo might be bored with the 6/7 yo group.

Anyway, were on deck 1 if you think your in the bowels of the ship. But I hear its smooth sailing down there and nice an quiet.

Welcome aboard, mndisfam!

Yes, we are neighbors - we live in Eagan. There are not too many Dis families on our thread but I'm sure the ship will be full the week before Easter. Maybe we will have all the inside info!

I am traveling with my sister's and brother's families. There are 12 of us - six adults, 17 year-old boy, three 15 year-old girls, 13 yo boy and 11 yo girl. We fly in Friday afternoon (AirTran -1st time) and we are staying at the Residence Inn. It's the 2nd cruise for us and my brother; 1st for sister's family. We are getting very excited!

We are neighbors. ! I am in Bloomington. I used to work at Thomson, West in Eagan.

Now, for more interesting stuff...

I would love for my DH & DS to wear a tux - maybe on another cruise. DS will just wear khakis and a shirt & tie - DH in jacket/tie. I won't probably wear any dress too formal -a nice evening pany suit thing I got a Von Maur. My DD will wear her gorgeous Christmas dress.

We went on this cruise last June - but didn't really! It was our first cruise, but because of Tropical Storm Alberto, our shore excursions were cancelled in St Marten & St Thomas. CC was awesome tho - it was still the best trip we ever had! I managed to go shopiing instead and got a diamond ring for our 20th anniversary in St Thomas! It's our 20th anniversary, and we were too poor when we got married for me to get a diamond...(violins please...)

SO on this trip we are doing the Golden Eagle, and the Submarine. I wonder if we will really be missing something by not going to Trunk Bay?

We would love to see more nightlife, but with little ones...its hard. I want to dress up for Pirate night tho...

Am I too old to be a pirate wench? Maybe I am - but it would SURE EMBARASS THE KIDS!!!!:dance3:

Small world! We live off Wescott Rd. about a mile from Thomson West.

We are still contemplating the tux decision. My DH and DS wore them on our last cruise and it was great to see them all decked out plus we didn't bring any other dressy clothes for them. DH wore the tux jacket with a tropical shirt to semi and Palo. He looked very handsome! I also have a long flowy pantsuit outfit that I will wear formal night. I think I will go with black dress pants and pretty blouses for semi and Palo. Are you dining at Palo?

I'm wondering about Trunk Bay too. Our excursion was diverted from there last time - much to our major disappointment - so we have not seen it. We are currently booked on the Doubloon Sail and Snorkle trip and we have no formal plans for St. Maarten. Most likely a beach day.

Are you on main or late seating for dinner? Are you flying down Friday or Saturday? Any before or after plans i.e. WDW? We are just cruising this time so no WDW for us.

We are flying down Fri am, and staying at POR. We belong to DVC, but I didn't want ot use points, so I tried to pick a somewhat thrifty place. I was happy to read that many people like the pool bar at POR!

We won't be going to the parks - I think. I am afraid it might be too crowded. With the weather we have been having lately, we will be really happy to sit by a warm pool and hang out all day...

Last time, we took the cruise bus to the port. It was a dream of mine to be on the bus. The only problem was we didn't get to the boat by almost 2! We really felt rushed and overwhelmed, and noticed many many people looked like they had been there all day.

This time, we are going to rent a car and get there as early as possible!!

We are doing something similar. After going back and forth many times we finally decided to stay in orlando. We fly in thurs and are staying at Fort Wilderness Villas for 2 nights and driving to port Sat early. Anyone know that time we should head to port? I don't want to be too early, but i also want to be there as soon as they open or close to it.

Can't help you out with timing from WDW to the port but I know last cruise (pre-number system), we probably got to the terminal around 11. Security lines were about 15 minutes and check-in lines took about 20 minutes. The gangway opened just before noon and we were eating lunch at Topsider's by 12:20. With the new numbering system, things will probably be a little different in that you have to wait for your number to be called so arriving earlier may mean getting on the ship earlier. My DH was a little cranky about embarkation last cruise (he has little patience with the sheep herd mentality) and he swore that next cruise, we'd wait and just waltz on at 2!
(I think he's forgotten all about that!:cool1: )

We are going early!!! I am going to figure the first day as a real vacation day...

Say - we need more people on this thread...I am going to put a call out on the main board. Maybe people don't know? Kathleen

Can't help you out with the time thing as we have never been to Florida. I'm sure we'll head out pretty early only because we have a car to return and the little ones (heck even some of us big kids) will be excited to see the Magic again.
