Ahoy mateys! After taking and absolutely loving our first Disney cruise during spring break 2006 (Western), DW and I booked another cruise for spring break 2008 while keeping it a surprise from DD (who will be 14 in 2008). Actually, because we couldn't book that far in advance, and didn't even know then when spring break would be for DD in 2008, we reserved the latest date we could at the time (December 1-8, 2007), knowing we would be able to change those dates to the right ones in March 2008 before then without penalty. We just learned the actual dates this week, although it looks as though DCL isn't yet taking reservations past January 2008.

Anyway, we're looking forward to seeing you all (including geffric & co, of course!) in only about another 18 months!

P.S. It's still a surprise to DD (a/k/a monkeybug94), but I figure since she stopped looking at these boards this spring, about a month after we got back, I'm safe. Shhhh -- don't tell her! :ssst:

we are with you Gimpeaux and family on another Magical cruise...

I will feel more permanent once DCL opens the dates and I can book.. I hope that we will have an Eastern this time but it makes no difference a DCL cruise is always wonderful no matter where it goes..

check out the fish hanging thing.. WOW I am gonna get one of those....

Any one else planning on joining us the last week of March 2008?

Hello! I received your PM, Susan, but thought I'd respond here in case anyone else shows up....Anyway, I had a couple of questions for you.

Do you know when DCL will show the dates and we can transfer the ressies to the correct week? I saw on another post that it's expected some or all 2008 dates will be available for reservations later this month or early next month, so maybe that's right. I looked at the schedule for December 2007 and if the Eastern and Western cruises continue to alternate week by week, then our week will be another Western cruise. But who can tell 18 months away?

Did you or do you transfer your reservation to a travel agent (I mean, "TA" ... it'll take me awhile to get back the use of all my DIS abbreviations)? If so, who? Does that save you money?

And that's a cool fish hanging thing!

Thanks!

Hi Gimpeaux :wave2:

I wish I knew when the dates are going to be released but I have been watching here on the DIS for a post that the dates are released. I think I'll call DCL about mid month too.

Eastern / Western - hmmmm. my preference would be an Eastern 'cause all 4 of like the extra day at sea but a Western is ok too We didn't make it to cozemel last time so that will be a new port for us. We may walk around Key West for a bit but only for a piece of key lime pie at the Blond Giraffe and then back to relax on the ship.. I guess we will know when the open the booking.

As far as a TA - please don't use the TA that you used for the last DCL cruise.. they were bad if I remember correctly.
In the past I have used SueEllen at DU and she handled everything for me. In fact I can transfer the reservation to her and she can watch the opening of 2008 and book me.. now that is a good thought. As far as a discount - once upon a time, DU and other TAs could discount and even leave a nice gift in the room but the gift was eliminated a few years back and I don't think that a TA gets a discount any more.. I'll ask Sue Ellen and let you know what she said.

We have a lot of time to figure out wrist bands and maybe t-shirts or ...

Talk to ya later...

Wow, geffric, that post is so organized, comprehensive, and planned out it's scary! :scared1:

I think I prefer the "old fashioned" approach we took last time ... more low-key ... although I like the idea of an earlier get-together before the sailaway party ... that was great but a tough place to chat with all of the music, dancing, and so on.

Look at us .. planning what we're going to be doing the last week of March 2008....I think we need to find a friendlier, nicer-sounding word than "obsessive-compulsive," don't you? Maybe just ""nuts"...

About to move our ressies to this date....oh yeah! November 1 opens up all ressies through 4/29/08! :cool1:

I am poised by the phone waiting until DCL opens up...

I'm in offically booked but I don't know. I forgot to ask the DCL rep on the phone the price.. yeah i know dumb of me... but according to the website it is 2 times what we paid for the 2006 spring break cruise 'cause it is Easter week..

I am going to wait until i get my confirm from DCL with the price and then decide.. this maybe too far out of my price range..

Hi Guys -

We still don't know what we are doing - minnie328 has too much going on now that she is in high school. If we did not already have the spring break 2007 cruise already booked with family, she would be going to London with the choir. Maybe we will book the cruise - we can always cancel.
Glad to see you guys are going back! :sunny:

Well, we booked an SPH. Wow, have prices gone up. Put the deposit on our Disney card, so won't have to pay the deposit for six months. We'll already be back from next year's cruise by then, and should have a better idea of what is going on. Hope we can make it! :cool1:

Glad you booked. Hope we can make it. Are you our neighbors again? We got 5020 again.

All booked here now! I got worried, geffric, when I saw your reference to the price having nearly doubled, but it looks to me as though while there has been a sizable increase, it's "only" about 20% more than it cost us last spring.

Someone told me once that the higher the deck you are on, the less you notice the ship's motion, so right now we're on 7 -- but with you guys both there it sounds like fun down on 5, so we may move back down there (we were in 5002 last time).

Only 505 days! :dance3:

Hi Geffric and Gimpeaux,

I'm bummed. We are thinking about going April 26th 2008 (Eastern). DCL called me yesterday to tell me what rooms are available.

If you guys go together have a great time. :Pinkbounc

Hi Jen..

Have you thought about changing your dates and joining us for the 2nd Annual Spring Break DIS fun trip? :rotfl2:

:wave2: JK ... I would love to do an Eastern again. We love the sea days. Last trip both DH and I felt like we were running too much and the boys love the time on the ship with friends too.

Hi Jen....I'm sorry you won't be with us in '08. :sad2: Hope you and yours have a fantastic time. :thumbsup2

I'm a little disappointed our week came up as another Western, since we did that last time. Still, based on what we saw of Key West last time, I'm inclined, like geffric, to go get some key lime pie and then treat the rest of the day as a sea day onboard. :goodvibes

This will be our third Western in a row. We would really like to try the
Eastern, but spring break just isn't working with us.
And we agree about Key West.

The 2008 dates are out???? I didn't think they were released yet. I just moved my ressie to December 2007 to buy some time. Where did you find the dates for 2008? :surfweb:

Check the DCL website or call your TA.. and come and join us.
