Happy Valentine's Day to all of my Dear Friends!
Hi everybody. Sorry I have everyone a little worried. But you are wonderful friends to even think about me so thank you very much. I'm okay I guess. Have just been very down and depressed, which isn't like me usually. I can usually bounce back from just about anything and put a smile on my face, but I'm just not sure what's going on with me right now.
It's been kinda downhill since the middle of January. My friend Lauran went int the hospital for what the doctors said would be a simple procedure, which turned out to be anything but - and while she was there awaiting her surgery, her son (who is 20) called to say that her mother, who lived with her and her two adult children, had just died at home. She was of course beside herself and couldn't do anything about it! Then there were complications with her recovery and she missed the funeral. More complications after that, and then the big "C" word popped into the picture. She is now looking at chemo and radiation in about 6 weeks when she is more recovered. There are other complications going on, both personally and physically with her, but much too long to go into!
Then one of our assistant Scoutmasters lost his father-in-law. That wasn't sudden, but still never easy for his poor wife.
And then my good friend Shirley, the one I do the 3Day Walk for the Cure for, lost her father last Tuesday. I've known him since I was in the seventh grade when Shirl and I met, and we've been friends ever since. He was kinda like another dad. So had to do the viewing and funeral thing for him on Saturday!
Another bombing today in the market at Kabul and it only helps make me more NUTS!
I'm soooo tired of being sad and upset! I just can't seem to bounce back.
One happy note - Dustin had his first jazz festival on Friday - it was a festival with other bands but wasn't judged for prizes, more like a constructive workshop. But one of the "judges" who has apparently been doing this for a long time and is known to all of the band directors, came over to Dustin and asked him how old he was and what grade he was in. After DS told him, he said (and in front of his entire band!) that his solo was fantastic and he has only heard a handful of better ones from someone his age. DS of course beemed from ear to ear, and got kudos again from his director when they got on the bus to come home! Yea for Dustin!
Happy cruisin' to Monika and Michael - and to Dave and Tanya! Wish it was me!!!
Chris - that is so exciting about the girls and where they will perform! What a dream come true! Tell them congrats for me please.
I'll pop back on soon, I promise! And thanks again for the happy thoughts - please keep'em coming. You are all the best!
