March 2023 - Car Rentals

I've got a Tesla Model Y from Hertz for 14 days (Spring Break) for $793 - booked about 2 weeks ago - prices have crept up to $971

Just jumped on to start looking again. We haven’t rented a car since 2019. Lost all my national executive status. We’ve been driving since covid. The last time I punched in my codes, nothing seemed to work anymore. Are there just no codes like before. We were thinking g of doing a last minute trip.

Publicly available codes aren't nearly as good or as prolific as they were in the before times. Many private codes have been quietly re-negotiated in the favor of the rental car companies. I feel the best method is www.autoslash.com and let them search for what the best deals are.

I used autoslash a few days ago and changed my rental from budget to hertz and saved about $30. I think I am paying around $300 for 7 days, intermediate car. Last year we stood in a 2 hr line for budget and finally got in our car a little after midnight. Some of the reviews are saying people waited 4 hrs in line. There was a YouTube video a few days ago from an Orlando news channel about the long car rental lines at the Orlando airport. I could tell by the footage that budget had a really long line but Hertz did not. So be aware of your rental is with budget!

Need help deciding between two types of rentals. I have a mini van for 640 and a suburban for 830. It’s a 7 day rental with pickup in Orlando and off Fort Lauderdale.

We have 4 adults and a child going. From level of comfort and luggage space what rental would you go with. Both from budget.

How much baggage? I would go minivan, but if every adult has a full size suitcase it might be a little tight. Would much prefer the ride and doors of a minivan over a suburban.

I’m going to assume 4 suitcases, plus a pack n play.

I think the third row can be half put down on the mini van which would give some more space.

Anyone else have thoughts?
I have experienced this with both of these types of cars. Hands down go with the Suburban, the back of the minivan will not be able to handle this size load. I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Mini van should give you plenty of room with 2/3 of rear seat folded down. You might have to cram in a little bit to/from the airport, but the rest of the time you'll have plenty of room.
