Hi all! We are regular March travelers and it seems like car rental are very high for 2017 especially in the SUV/mini van category. Used a 25% code with Budget for a 4 door sedan but it is still more then last year!

Yeah, it does look pretty high. I took a quick look at Costco travel and the lowest was $474 USD/week at Enterprise.

At this point you've got a car booked, so all you can really do is keep checking to see if prices go down and rebook if you do see a favourable price. Not the most fun game in the world, but I'm afraid you're stuck having to play it.

Thanks, that is what I will do.
Don't forget to follow the thread for March 2017 in the Transportation forum. Everyone shares the deals they are finding and it helps. Mind you, with our exchange rate so bad, I would try to book in Canadian, or at least figure out if using the U.S. sites are the best deal by converting.

Thanks I will check the transportation forum. Still hoping for an SUV as the kids are not really kids anymore!

Rental rate have been climbing for the last few years. I feel like the days of getting a rental for $10/day all in are long gone.

I used a valid code and coupon last year and when I picked up the car the agent said the coupon was invalid. I disagreed and asked for a manger. They then went on to give me the 'we're doing you a favour' song and dance as the manager corrected the rate. The whole thing left me with the impression that they are trying anything to cut out the discounted rates..

Have you tried travelocity, we are going to Fort Lauderdale and I was able to get a mid size for $177 CAD prepaid, for a week. I have never done a prepaid car rental before but it was way cheaper than anything I was seeing.

Check often. We usually go in March as well and prices are definitely up. I booked a mid-sized SUV a while ago through Alamo using the costco discount and the code that was shared on the March 2017 Car Rental thread. It is $202 from March 11-18 which isn't too bad.
