March 2012: Spring Break, Here we come! Threadjackers take over the world!

D gave you awesome advice.

Also a lot of times craigslist has new machines in boxes of people moving.

I will also tell you I started on a combo machine because I wanted to embroider over sewing well I got addicted to both and what a PITA having to switch back and forth.

I then bought a PE-770 love it.

then I wanted a bigger hoop and I have a Brother Duetta which I bought used that I use mostly for sewing (it is a combo machine) want to know how many times I have used the 6 x 10 hoop. Twice.

Now I have entered the world of vintage machines so I am beginning to collect machines LMAO. :rotfl2:

Also I have only been sewing since last October/November and I am all self taught. I love Carla Cs patterns because they are like getting a sewing lesson.

Liddy... I am so excited that you have your bag all cut out.

Thank you! I'm excited to start working on it!!

You're probably not going to like what I have to say about the machines, but I will say it anyways, and let you make the decision... OK?

Who cares what I think ... I asked for thoughts, reviews, opinions, and I insist you guys give it to me!

First of all... IF you are going to buy a machine from WM/Target... make sure you read the reviews of the exact machine you are planning to get. As a whole, WM and Target sell the cheapest made machines out there - even if the brands they sell are "reputible and good" brands... they are still made with components that are cheaper. Make sense?

Nope, I totally get it. It's actually something I learned in my Marketing class. I'm aware that name brand doesn't always mean name parts. :thumbsup2 I have only seen Singer and Brother brands locally, and from what I do understand, they are still made well. Regardless... oh, we'll get to my regardless in a minute. ;)

Now that I have said that... Buying a machine from either of those places is a good place to start... When you first start sewing, all you really need is a basic machine - you just really want to learn how to do the basic stuff well - so it's my opinion that you don't want to spend a lot of $$ on a machine. Just know that when you buy these machines, some of the basic things you want it to do - it just won't do (for instance, sewinging through 4 or more layers of fabric... and think about how often you go through that many layers)... So, you are probably going to want to upgrade with in a few months. Which is fine - you'll probably be able to recoup most of your $$ on Craigslist.

I've never been on Craigslist before ... I'm not even entirely sure what it is ...

And I did not want to invest a lot of money in my first machine. I wanted to keep it cheap and simple, that way, if something happens and I change my mind, I won't be out a lot of money. (Plus, I don't have it, I'm trying to pay off our March trip! :scared1:)

These hipster purses that I am making, I am having to sew through .... four+ layers. Mom's machine doesn't like it, but will do it. I have to adjust the presser foot everytime I come up to the handle and just go slowly. I always double stitch that area too, just for added measure. I don't know what model it is, but I do know it's probably 15+ years old. (I think she got it several years before DD was born at Walmart.)

I know that when we were looking at the machines yesterday, mom said she couldn't really give any advice without being able to play with them. And with them being older, and hearing your stories, I would be afraid of the wiring, and that's something I can't replace. I may be able to learn how to clean them, but I can't touch wiring. I'm an accountant ... I can only run the numbers. :lmao:

I think my biggest concern is buy something now or get that $50 BF Walmart one? (Well, try to snag it that is.) If I buy something now, I won't have the funds for that Walmart one. Apparently it's new, because I can't find anything about it. Here's the ad:

Brother Limited Edition Project Runway
LS2300PRW
Full-sized sewing machine
20 stitch functions
Includes decorative removable skin
Instructional DVD

I think it's a newer model to the LS2250PRW ... because they look identical in the pictures (but the 2250 is blue-ish, and the 2300 is purple-ish). The 2250 got 4.4 out of 5 stars here:
http://answers.walmart.com/answers/1336/product/15126418/questions.htm

And I can't recoup money from sewing ... I'm not going to charge DD for her items. :lmao:

OK... I haven't sounded snotty yet, have I? :confused3 Good...

Absolutely. 110%. :lmao: Totally kidding! I totally follow along and agree. So if you're snotty, I'm snotty. Wait ... I am snotty. :rotfl:

I will say, that you can buy a used machine on Craigslist, but it doesn't have to be vintage. A used machine - that works - is going to need a cleaning... so you just open the top with a screw driver, take your sewing machine lint brush to it, oil it where it says to oil it (you alwayas assume it's never been oiled before)... put the top back on it. Do the same thing for the bobbin area, and away you go. The older the machine is, that you buy, the more work you are going to have to do to it - usually. So, if you find a $20 machine on Craigslist that was manufactured in 1985, and it works when you go look at it (bring your mom)... then you will probably get your $20 out of it in a matter of months, and when you outgrow it - you can sell it on Craigslist for $20. :lovestruc

You know that I am pro-vintage machine, because, personally, I think there is nothing better out there. But we all had to start somewhere... Here's the first machine I purchased off of Craigslist - it was supposed to be a "parts machine" - it was identical to my other Brother (except the other one is blue where this one is red)... but when I got it home and cleaned it up - it ran better than the other Brother, so I just used it. Then it died (it's having electrical issues) about 9 months after I purchased it for $25 on Craigslist... I got my $$ out of it... I ran it hard!

IMG_14619.jpg

So, personally, I would make Craigslist your new best friend... Stalk it. Find a used machine - but not necessarily vintage... USE the crap out of it. Set a limit of $35, and really learn to sew. If you find, 6 months down the road - you don't love it like you wanted to... You are only out the $35. However, if you love it... Then you can branch out... Find that new machine (or vintage machine) that you want, that does what you want it to.

There you go again ... determined to get me hacked into a million pieces or ripped off because humanity stinks. :lmao:

I'll see what I can find ... but I don't drive Knoxville and not so sure it's really caught on in my neck of the woods. :confused3 But having never been on it, I can't say for sure. DH has checked it out before. And he usually comes home and tells me about the ads he's reported to failblog (I love that site!!).

And I have a $50 limit for a machine right now. I figured I'd upgrade to a super nice one once I get confident in my sewing.

I also want to add a couple of things... they may not seem important now... but someday, they might.

For a serger, if you are ever thinking of learning to use one... They intimidated me more than any machine could... Um... 4 tensions... Save yourself the trouble... buy a new one. I purchased mine off of Amazon... I believe it's a Brother 434d - thousands of awesome reviews. I thought I needed lessons at a shop - and sergers are so expensive there - I learned everything I needed on Youtube. :cloud9: I don't use my serger as often as I thought I would... but I am super happy to have it, because there are times I've needed it.

I don't know what a serger is ... At first I thought you were meanging a surge protector, like an outlet plug-in thing. :lmao: Now I just have no clue. :rotfl2: But glad that you have some mysterious machine that sounds complicated and you're happy with it. :goodvibes

Don't get sucked into the combo machine... If you ever buy an embroidery0machine (the Brother PE770 comes highly recommended) - I don't own one, but this guy is at the top of my list. But don't buy a combo embroidery/sewing machine, so many people do, because they figure that they can have one machine to do both jobs. When really, that is super hard. It takes a while to hoop everything up, and if you had a second machine, you could be sewing away while you are waiting for the machine to embroider away. If it's all one machine... You are wiating for it to stich out. Does that make sense. You are just better off buying two seperate machines - besides that fact that it's way cheaper to do that anyways. Usually dual duty mcahines are very expensive... and that's how the stores "get ya"... you buy the dual duty - expecting it to save you $$ in machines, then you end up going back to buy another machine, because of the time you are wasting. Oh, and Heather Sue's designs are the BEST on the internet. :lovestruc

Again, Marketing has served me well (but still can't figure out why I need it to be an Accountant -- unless I own my own business) ... I have seen them, and even without knowledge of sewing (because it was pre-learning), I couldn't figure out why someone would want an all-in-one machine for a purpose like this. Sure, some AiO machines are great! (Like my printer.) But most are not (again, Marketing). And while I don't have much space now, I'd rather be happy with what I invest my money in. One day, I'll have my own office space (for my computer and whatever else I need -- such as sewing and scrapbooking).

I don't know who Heather Sue is ... Is she on the DIS? Is that her DIS name? :confused3 Please speak as though I am a newbie. Wait, I am! :lmao:

OK... So, I am here for ya... If you ever want to text me for questions while you are out machine shopping - or call me... I'd be happy to PM you my #. :thumbsup2

D~

You know, when we were at Goodwill, I told mom, "If I had D's number, I'd text her pics and see what she thought." :lmao: While mom has owned vintage machines (and learned on one since she learned as a little girl), she hasn't had any experience with them in many years -- and she hasn't actually sewn anything in many years. Her Brother has been collecting dust. Since DD has been born, I think she has sewn curtains for all the grandkids .... but that's all that I recall. :confused3 Anyway, she just doesn't have enough confidence to give advice on a machine. She did tell me which one she wants at Walmart the other day (maybe she was hinting, her birthday is Thanksgiving Day!).

Thank you D! You're a great DIS-friend!! :flower3:

Hopping on here because of D's PTR...loved reading your comments so I HAD to come and read your PTR....all I can say is INSANITY RULES!

I was making a few notes on things to comment on, (because I was reading from my phone while sewing) but can't find the list now so I have to rely on my feeble mind to remember...

1- We were military for 20 years...which basically meant we always left for vacation at midnight...because you signed out on leave at midnight and you wanted to get every minute of leave you could! The kids would sleep until we were just about at our destination.

Now, I have a different set of kids. We stop in Ocala for breakfast (usually Cracker Barrel) and then after getting back in the car, we are only 90 minutes from Disney...or roughly one movie!

2- I am also a Tennessee girl...but from the Nashville side of the state. My son in law's sister and family live in Knoxville...which makes for intersting football game days! She is an Alabama fan first (born and raised there) but a UT fan second. Son in law is an Alabama fan first (same reason as above) but a UGA fan second (only fitting since he graduated there and we live so close to Athens). My daughter is a fan of whoever her husband is routing for...but prior to marriage she was a Georgia girl through and through.

3- Welcome to the world of fun and sewing! It is very addicting! I only want to add one thing to D's advice about machines. If you get one of the cheapie ones from Wally World or Target, don't...repeat...DON'T ever use anyone's machine other than yours again!

My daughter in law was perfectly happy with her Black Friday Wally World special a few years back...until she started using my machine. She got to the point where she refused to use hers, because it lacked all the bells and whistles. She now owns a much-more-expensive-than-mine machine...and still uses mine!

4-...ok I KNOW there was a 4...and a 5...but I can't seem to remember them now!

Anyway...thanks for letting me join your party a bit late...(you are going to let me join ...right? D will vouch for me...I think..)

Nini

Sorry Chiara ... I saw you snuck in while I was posting, but was trying to rush out the door for class. :goodvibes

D gave you awesome advice.

Shhh! Her head will explode! :p

Good point! But its usually people moving here, not away. :lmao:

:welcome:

INSANITY RULES! :woohoo:

I was making a few notes on things to comment on, (because I was reading from my phone while sewing) but can't find the list now so I have to rely on my feeble mind to remember...

Oy! I can't DIS from my phone. :rotfl2: I can read sometimes, but I can't reply ... not well, anyway. :sad2:

1- We were military for 20 years...which basically meant we always left for vacation at midnight...because you signed out on leave at midnight and you wanted to get every minute of leave you could! The kids would sleep until we were just about at our destination.

Makes complete sense to me! I love the sleeping kids ... so quiet ...

Now, I have a different set of kids. We stop in Ocala for breakfast (usually Cracker Barrel) and then after getting back in the car, we are only 90 minutes from Disney...or roughly one movie!

Hmmm... Cracker Barrel! When dad travelled with us (we used to visit family in KY), we only stopped at Cracker Barrel. It was tradition. No matter what meal, it was Cracker Barrel for road trips. I'd love to get a tradition like that going, but DH is all about variety (which I enjoy, too).

And yes, I've used lines like that: One more movie and we're there! :lmao:

2- I am also a Tennessee girl...but from the Nashville side of the state. My son in law's sister and family live in Knoxville...which makes for intersting football game days! She is an Alabama fan first (born and raised there) but a UT fan second. Son in law is an Alabama fan first (same reason as above) but a UGA fan second (only fitting since he graduated there and we live so close to Athens). My daughter is a fan of whoever her husband is routing for...but prior to marriage she was a Georgia girl through and through.

Yay for another Tennesseean! :banana::banana::banana:

My grandfather used to live in Mt Juliet (and I had a short stint in Smyrna and Murfreesboro) ... so I have many Nashville visits under my belt. Not to mention having to go for my previous employer (for shows and such).

However ... I don't follow sports. Never have, never will. I get that some people are big into them, and I respect that. And if they ramble on about "last night's game" or whatever ... I let them, but I have no clue what they're saying. Often, I have to ask what sport. :lmao:

3- Welcome to the world of fun and sewing! It is very addicting! I only want to add one thing to D's advice about machines. If you get one of the cheapie ones from Wally World or Target, don't...repeat...DON'T ever use anyone's machine other than yours again!

She got to the point where she refused to use hers, because it lacked all the bells and whistles. She now owns a much-more-expensive-than-mine machine...and still uses mine!

Well, I only know of one other machine... and it's mom's ... so it would be mine or her's I'd use anyway. And hopefully once I get mine, she won't let me use hers because she'll be using it. We can be sewing buddies! :cloud9:

But it does make sense ... so I can totally see the point. Right now, I don't want bells and whistles, because I don't know how to use them. And as I learn, then I can go back and visit a machine that has options and upgrade.

Right now, I want cheap. Something that will help me learn how to make good stitches, make some adorable clothes for the kids, and other things. Then once I get confident and better ... shell out money for other things. :goodvibes

4-...ok I KNOW there was a 4...and a 5...but I can't seem to remember them now!

DORY BRAIN! :lmao:

Anyway...thanks for letting me join your party a bit late...(you are going to let me join ...right? D will vouch for me...I think..)

Nini

You did bring cookies, right? :confused3

Because unless you have cookies and a vouch ... well ... it's not pretty. :rotfl2:

So glad to see you here! Make yourself cozy.

Yupper... I think this has become a sewing PTR too... ROFL. You can deny it all you want Liddy, but that machine will soon take over your life... You can blame Nini for that (she won't mind).

D~ <--- Who tends to vouch for anyone who brings cookies... but I prefer pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting.

Oh and which area are you searching on Craigslist??? I'll be happy to keep an eye open in your area. LOL

D~

Nope, not in a million years. :rolleyes1

:lmao::rotfl2:

And I don't blame Nini, I blame you D~! It's YOUR fault! Sheesh. Just accept it already. :rotfl:

Oh and which area are you searching on Craigslist??? I'll be happy to keep an eye open in your area. LOL

D~

Oh, I just checked actually ... anything below $30 was for items up your alley, too far away, or in such bad condition, I wouldn't attempt it (but most of it was all the above). I did find a posting from one of my friends. She didn't list a price (it was for a lot of items), but mentioned sewing machine and various accessories. Maybe she hasn't sold it yet and will cut me a deal. Most people wanted $200+ for their machines ... or ... it was unused, but you can get better for cheaper at Walmart or Target. One posting said $75 for unused, 7 stitches, etc. Oh, it's here: http://knoxville.craigslist.org/for/2695368172.html I thought it was pretty steep ... :confused3

But yeah, $20-30 would be my limited ... especially since I can go buy a new one with a limited warranty.

hmmmmm...I get a migraine and have to get off the computer...I come back to see that not only was I supposed to bring cookies (or pumpkin bars or something like that) I now get blamed for something!!??

I think you know me all too well!

Well, I'm afraid the cookies didn't fit into the box...so I had to eat a couple to make them fit, and well, one thing led to another and another...and somehow all the cookies were gone. I'm not sure ....but I think it was my kids fault!

Nini

ROFL... Sorry Nini... You could always make us another batch! :)

Sorry about the headache, I hope you are feeling better.

Sorry about the migraine. They are NEVER fun. :guilty: I get them frequenly myself. Do you have things you can take for them? I hope you are feeling better now. :flower3:

I hate when that happens ... you know, when you have some cookies that you're nibbling on and then they all just disappear.

But yes, I would have done the same thing ... I would have had to eat some cookies to make them fit into the box. ;)

ROFL... Sorry Nini... You could always make us another batch! :)

D~ ... it wasn't you that ate all of Nini's cookies was it? :confused3
:lmao::rotfl2:

We last left off with driving down from Knoxville and grabbing a hotel whenever we're tired of driving.

So ... we will wake up early Sunday morning (alarm will probably be set for around 7:00am-ish). Hopefully the hotel will have a continental breakfast and we'll grab some fruit or a bowl of cereal or something and then head out.

After departing from the hotel, we will continue our drive (hopefully it won't be long -- maybe an hour or so) until we arrive at ....

cbr1.jpg

Stolen image, can't recall where from. Sorry!

We will check-in, request first floor (I'll do online check-in and request first floor as well). I don't handle stairs well with my hip problems, and I don't want to stress DD with stairs. So we'll be surprised with whatever village we get placed in. I can't wait to find out what village!!!

Our room will probably not be ready (which is fine), but we'll get our tickets and explore the resort. Last time, I failed to take ANY pictures of the resort! :scared1: I had tons of video that trip, but very few pictures (less than 40). If it's warm enough, we may go for a dip in the pool. If lunch time hits while we're still exploring, we'll grab some luch from Old Port Royale.

After we're done exploring, we'll head to MK! :woohoo:

The park is open from 9:00 - 9:00 with PM EMH from 9:00 - 12:00. TP's Crowd Calendar rates MK at a 9.1 for the day. :scared1: But it doesn't matter, we'll have a full day later in the week. So we'll arrive and brave whatever crowds may be there. If we haven't had lunch yet, we'll grab something at probably Columbia Harbour House. Who knows. :confused3

Anyway ... we'll grab FPs for Mickey (or Princesses), depending on what the wait times are posted (if wait times are decent, then we won't grab FPs and just visit and get FPs for something else). We'll get our PP card and snag any PP pictures we can. (Oh, I should mention that I'll pre-order the CD.)

So ... if we grab Mickey FPs then we'll head to Tomorrowland. If we do the M&G, we'll grab Buzz FPs. Confusing, right? :lmao:

Anyway ... I assume we'll have to FP Mickey.

Back on track ... I don't expect to accomplish much on Sunday. I'd like to see Mickey and Princesses; watch Monsters Inc, Laugh Floor; take a spin on Space Mtn; and see Mickey's PhilharMagic.

I hope to finish Tomorrowland and most of Fantasyland on Sunday ... but the crowds will determine how much we get accomplished.

We have dinner reservations at Crystal Palace for 6:35. I'm so very excited to dine here! I love Pooh & Friends (hoping Eeyore is visiting this evening -- he's my favorite). It will be mandatory that I wear an Eeyore shirt, so he can see how much I adore him!

Anyway ... back to CP ... I've heard nothing but mostly great reviews (a few "eh" reviews) ... The food looks interesting, and it's a great way to meet characters. Plus, it's a buffet, and DH loves buffets!

After dinner, we'll either head back to the resort for rest and pool time or try to tackle on some more attractions. It will mostly depend on how we feel and how the crowds are. If they are 9.1 as TP predicts, we may go back to the resort.

Regardless, we will not be watching Wishes or MSEP this trip. But ... that's not in stone. I love Wishes and MSEP ... but if we have to skip it this trip, then I'm okay with that.

However ... I do plan on DD and I returning to MK for PM EMHs. Odds are, not long after dinner, we'll head back to the resort. DH and DS will probably swim or go to bed early ... but I want to experience MK "after hours". I want to stay late into the night ... just for the experience! I want to ride Space Mtn at night (to compare to riding it during the day). DD will ride anything, so we'd be good to go. And we'll head back when we get too tired.

We only plan to play in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland on arrival day ... but if we get everything done, we'll move on to another area. It will all depend on crowds and how we feel. Below is a working list of what I'd like to do, like to skip, and hope to do. What doesn't get accomplished on this day will be added to the MK visit later in the week. :goodvibes

MUST DO's for arrival day:
Mickey M&G
Mickey's PhilharMagic
Monster's Inc, Laugh Floor
Space Mtn (day and night)
Buzz Lightyear's

Things we'll definitely skip:
Stitch's
Astro Orbiter
it's a small world (unless DH asks to ride again -- I don't care much for it)
Mad Tea Party

Hoping to accomplish:
Princess M&G
Jungle Cruise
WEDway
Carousel of Progress
Tomorrowland Speedway
Prince Charmin's carrousel
Peter Pan's flight
Dumbo
Adventures of Pooh

Here's some pictures of previous MK visits:

D~ ... it wasn't you that ate all of Nini's cookies was it? :confused3
:lmao::rotfl2:

If it was me who ate all the cookies, you'd know it... I don't eat all the cookies with out bragging about it. :thumbsup2

I read your update last night, but I was so mad at Mr. Rocket (I'll tell you about it in my PTR) that I didn't have time to respond.

Your plans sound perfect. I like how you plan to stay in one area of the park... we are planning to do that on a few of our days too, it just makes things easier. However, you know me, I'll be getting a workout of the Lines app - so if I have to trek all the way across the park because there's a 5min wait at Splash - I will. :rotfl2:

I do love CP... It wasn't super fabulous or anything, just because it's always so crowded there. But it was one of our favorite meals and everyone was so nice. The characters spend ample time at our table and we didn't have to wait extra for any of them to come. It was a lot of fun, and we have ADRs to do it on this trip too.

I am super excited about our meet up... I keep thinking about how much fun it's going to be - there are so many of us going in March that seem to have the same obnoxious sense of humor - so it should be a blast.

D~

Oh, and I forgot to add... I love all the pictures you posted! Makes me want to be there NOW!!! :)

D~

I, personally LOVE CP. Not necessarily for the food, but for the things that happened there in the past. Of the 4 times we have eaten there...I think we have only had a decent server once!

On our first trip there, my DS and DIL had two foster children. One a few months old and one about 18 months old. The 18 month old went with us on the trip. He had been terribly abused and was basically non verbal (except to scream!) When he got scared he closed his eyes tight and pretended nothing bad was going ot happen.

He was terrified of all the characters. I was really concerned at CP. He saw the characters and started screaming with his eyes closed and wouldn't eat. Just as we decided to take him out and feed him on the porch (CM said we could) he opened his eyes and saw Tigger! He started saying something that sounded close to Tigger ...and pointing at him. Tigger saw him and The Foster child grabbed Tigger and wouldn't let go! Tigger spent about 15 minutes at our table playing with L. Of course, Tigger needed a dry cleaning by the time it was over...but it was worth it! After that, L could not wait to see the rest of the characters in the park.

L still has trouble with speech, but he now at least tries to speak. His therapists say that was his turning point.

So, CP will always remain one of my favorites!

Good Choice!

I read about Mr. Rocket. So sorry. I hope he gets fixed and you can work on forgiving him for his inappropriate behaviour.

Oh, trust me, if I catch something with a short wait, I'll totally trek my way over to it. And if it's warm and we feel like getting wet, we may hit up Splash Mtn. However, with it being a 9.1, I don't expect to get much done. And I'd love to have hoppers for this night (see one of the March threads). I'd prefer to go get a few things done, eat, go somewhere else, and then DD and I come back for PM EMH. But I'm writing with the assumption that I won't have the money to upgrade tickets -- because I don't work. :lmao:

I do love CP... It wasn't super fabulous or anything, just because it's always so crowded there. But it was one of our favorite meals and everyone was so nice. The characters spend ample time at our table and we didn't have to wait extra for any of them to come. It was a lot of fun, and we have ADRs to do it on this trip too.

I'm excited for it. I have learned that places even with bad reviews ... it's mostly because more people who like to complain post them than people who had good experiences. I heard all sorts of negative comments about Tony's last year, and I kept insisting that I was going to dine there regardless. Know what? We'd recommend Tony's in a heartbeat. We loved it! Good food, good server, good experience. It was great all around! (Well, the one hostess was a bit snotty that we booked for 6 and showed with 4 -- but it's much easier to seat 4 than 6, and I think she was just having a monthly issue -- because the other hostesses were soooooo super nice. A couple commented on my shirt -- Lady & the Tramp -- and they all talked to my kids.)

Anyway ... yeah, totally excited for it! :goodvibes

I am super excited about our meet up... I keep thinking about how much fun it's going to be - there are so many of us going in March that seem to have the same obnoxious sense of humor - so it should be a blast.

D~

ME TOO! I can't wait! I have some other things going on that day as well ... but will totally make it to the DISmeet! I've been trying to decide the best way to get there ... and I think I'll take a bus back to CBR and drive over to POR. That way, I don't get stranded :lmao: I may, or may not, have other people in tow ... we'll have to see. :goodvibes

Oh, and I forgot to add... I love all the pictures you posted! Makes me want to be there NOW!!! :)

D~

Iknowright?

i love Crystal Palace it is always one of our favorite meals.

Awesome, thanks! I can't wait!!! So I love having positive reinforcement on my choices! :cloud9:

Nini

Nini, I just want to reach through my screen and hug you on about every post you make.

Thank you for sharing such an AMAZING story about CP! :cloud9: I'm glad that L had an amazing breakthrough at CP with Tigger!!!

I'll admit ... in 2009, DS was a bit concerned with most of the characters (it was Donald who he'd meet first) ... DS's best character experiences were:
Mexican Donald, Chef Mickey, and Tigger (at the hidden M&G trail in AK)

I'll be sharing picss of all the above ... but I honestly didn't think Tigger was going to let DS go (the line got pretty backed up and his handler was trying to convince Tigger to let another child meet him -- but Tigger wouldn't have nothing to do with it). It was amazing! So I think Tiggers are just all around amazing character interactions!! :cloud9:

I'm so excited!!!! I finally finished my park bag. Is it perfect? No. But I'm happy with it. The biggest issue was sewing the zipper on. Well ... not actually sewing the zipper on, but in. It's hard to explain. Mom tried one way, and we saw that the zipper was upside down. So we made good use of the seam ripper and tried again. Then seam ripper. Then again. I made some stitching mistakes ... and if you look closely, you can see them ... so don't look closely okay? lol

Here's the front of my bag:

And here's how it hangs on me:

The back is pocket-less and just the Mickey plaid pattern.

I'm so happy about it! Like I said, it's not perfect ... but it was the first time I ever stitched a zipper in, and it caused some visual issues. Not noticeable from a distance, but pretty noticeable up close. But who cares, right? It's MINE!!!!

And this is what I'll be toting in the parks.

OH! There is webbing (nylon strap) inside the strap. It was a PITA to put in ... but it's in. DD's does not have webbing her in strap.
