I have been looking at flights for March 10th-15th and shocked at how high the prices are. Do you think they will go down at all or will they just keep going higher?

right now for the 4 of us airfare is around 1,800.00...which is insane!! I can get it down by 370.00 by leaving a day early, but then it will end up costing me that much for an extra day when you factor in food and lodging. I'm just wondering if I have enough time to start building up frequent flyer miles to help out or just bite the bullet and by the airfare and use the reward dollars to pay for it. I have never booked a flight so far in advance...I wait until at least a month or two before the vaca date..but than again we have never flown during spring break.

For spring break you def. need to buy tickets as soon as they go on sale

Still keeping the faith on my route. There were no sales at all out of the gate other then Spirit which I will not fly. The past few years the sales were all right away but this time there was nothing. So hoping they will appear sooner then later or else it will be an expensive trip.

Good luck everyone.

We went last March and I booked flights as soon as the booking window opened. They went up steadily, then dipped lower than I bought them in January or so. Fortunately some awesome boardies mentioned that JetBlue credits you if the flights go lower... my lucky husband got to go to Florida with his bestie for their 40th on the credit. Lucky guy.

I'd book as soon as you can, particularly if your airline will credit the difference.

My experience with Southwest is that they will dip but not until about 6-8 weeks before your dates. That is cutting it too close for me but I often keep checking back in order to attempt to get a credit. I just booked my March 2012 flight this week. I agree - sticker shock. We always fly nonstop but this time we took a flight with a stop both ways in order to get a decent fare - and even that fare was high. Plus we are heading home on a Friday as Sat and Sun was outrageous - so losing a couple extra days too... Good luck!

We flew into CDG and then waited a day for our miles to post. Then booked our flights in early March using FF miles because the price was just too much for us.

I have yet to see a sale though. Am I too late? Right now the cheapest airline is Airtran...even SW is a lot more. I'm flying out of Minneapolis, so we don't have spirit or Jetblue.

I'm also flying out of MSP the same dates, although I'm looking for MSP to LAX. I agree, airfare is outrageous, but we never really do get very good deals in Minneapolis. I'll keep hoping it comes down some, otherwise, we'll just stay home. We have to buy 5 tickets and I'm not interested in spending $2,000 just to get there!

Wonder why that is? Its rare that we get any great deals...a few years back (2009) we did score round trip tickets to Orlando for 129.00 pp...but thats it.

My sister is flying out of MSP for our WDW trip in March, the 13th to the 20th. Airtran was at $129 for about a day when those dates were announced but then went up to $144 almost immediately. I keep checking to see if there will be a sale so that the credits for the price difference could be used to book seats. So far, they have been hanging in there at $144 each way.

Milwaukee for the same dates has been at $134 each way since the dates in March opened.

I'd book now and keep watching for a sale.

I found the way home is $144, but the way down is $209...that is if I leave a day early. If I leave on the 10th its $280. Were thinking of just heading down a day early and staying at POP for the night.

If I book now and the prices drop can I get an adjustment?

I had trouble booking for March, too.

My situation is that the first 2 flights for PHL-MCO on SW were sold out as soon as the window opened. I am not sure what is going on, they are sold out for Mon-Thur, March 12-13-14-15. I had to take the 3rd flight, which is a weird one that goes to Tennessee first, change planes, then on the MCO. (30 minute connection, so it will be tight, and my special needs son has a chair that needs to be gate checked, I am nervous).

I am wondering if they just blocked off these flights. Because they have been showing as completely booked, not just the lowest fare being gone. It is odd, because I went on there within an hour of the window opening up. I keep watching, and if the flights become available, I will switch.

Yes, but the "adjustment" isn't in cash. It is a credit to your Airtran rewards account. I use those credits to pay for seat assignments and for future flights.

We used to live in Wisconsin and now are in Minnesota. I have been surprised at how much more expensive it is to fly out of MSP and I'm not sure why there's such a difference. We consider ourselves lucky if we get round trip to MCO for $300.

I just wanted to say hi :wave2: Were in Lino Lakes...so not too far from you!! I agree with it being expensive...I blame it on everyone wanting to get out of the long cold winter.

i sure hope the prices will go down -
i have not flown since 2/2009 - back then we still had a free checkedbag, and i paid $588 for the three of us to fly Non stop MKE - MCO.
i have begun checking daily :headache::sick: and the price does not go any lower than $358/PP - = $1040.xx, coupled with $120 for roundtrip checked bags- no way am i paying that.( this is the lowest i found, Airtran - Frontier out of MKE is $1800.xx!:scared1:) i have signed up for sale alerts and keeping my hopes up for a Spring break sale ( i know they happen for us snow birds:yay:). I will keep checking and i have commited myself that i will not pay more than $800 for us to fly.( that is still $266 R/T, which i think is high) if that does not happen by the time we hit our 45 day mark,( which is 2/9/12, so spring break sales should be out by then) then the trip will be cancelled. I will not pay as much to fly as i am for the resort, tx & food combined.
southwest is out also, they have only connecting flights and at horrible times.
if i see fares low, i will definately post them here ASAP.
driving is not an option for us -

I know, it makes me

We're in Woodbury, so not too far from either of you! If you look at airfare out of Chicago for the same time frame, it's about 1/2 the price. So annoying!
