5 Days of Eating! Part 1.

We had out of state visitors. We had a grand time, and here's where we ate dinner. (Lunches were generally nothing special.)

Friday, March 18 --
Dinner at Flying Fish. (20% DDE discount)
GOOD, as always and expected. If I recall correctly:
Male friend had Black Cod.
Female friend ate bleu cheese ravioli.
Me: Maui Maui (fish). Very good an tender. Not fishy tasting at all.
DH ate fish he had never heard of before, and cannot recall the name. (Began with a 'B'.) He was served the WHOLE fish (and was told this when he ordered.) He said it was VERY good, and due to the way it was prepared with a sauce.

Prior when we used the DDE card at ANY WDW restaurant with guests, our meal charges were separated between parties. The Flying Fish would not do that, but the separated them on the register, but gave one total.

Saturday, March 19 --
Dinner at Chefs de France. (20% DDE discount)
Both males (DH and friend) started with French Onion soup followed by Duck with a cherry glaze sauce. (Duo de Canard aux cerises - duo of roasted breast and confit leg of duck with cherries, haricot verts and sweet potato puree)
Both were VERY impressed. DH couldn't believe how good the duck tasted with the cherry sauce. I think he would have stabbed anyone's hand with a fork if they had tried to remove his plate! ;)
Me: Salade au Roquefort - Belgium endive and mixed greens topped with blue cheese and walnuts. Followed by Gratin de macaroni - Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese. Very good, esp the salad. Very tender and tasty. And I had plenty of macaroni left to eat for lunch Monday.
Female friend: Salade de chevre chaud - Baked goat cheese on walnut and raisin bread served on a bed of arugula salad and confit peppers. I think she was disappointed not to have ordered the same salad I did. But seemed happy with her salad, but kept pouting and eyeing mine. :rotfl: She also ordered the macaroni. And her leftovers are still in my frig!
Chefs would not separate the tabs for the DDE discount.

Sunday, March 20 --
Emeril's (On City Walk by Universal)
OOOOO sooooo good... And service -- perfection. Comparable to cost to Flying Fish.
I had a ravoli with mushroom and brie cheese filling. WONDERFUL. So creamy and PERFECT.
DH started with crab cake, which had some greens with it. I had a bit of each. They were great. And DH said Emeril's crab cake beat out Flying Fish's. And that says a lot. Then he ate Baked Grouper. Again the sauce made it GOOD. This also came with tomato stuffed with crab. EXCELLENT. There was a rosiotta.
Male friend had a steak, and he was VERY impressed too. He is picky and thought this was GREAT.
Female friend had some sort of tri color pasta with chicken in it. She said it was "okay".
The bread was very good. The service was almost too good. To me I felt like someone was hovering nearby to straighten a napkin, knife, fill a glass, etc.
Emeril's also makes a point for EVERYONE in the group to ALL be served at exactly the same time. Very well trained servers.
We could tell the food was being prepared as guests ordered due to the time it took to be served. If anyone is in a rush, this is not the place to eat a GREAT meal. It did not take a TERRIBLY long time. It just is not a rushed meal at all.

To Be Continued... Two more nights of eating to report.
Three out of the four of us said our best meal out of the five nights was at Emeril's. :goodvibes

I enjoyed reading them thank you for sharing. :goodvibes :wave2:
