Sherri,

Which SPH are you in? I just got one last week - #5522. And I found out Nancy is right next to me. So do you think all of the SPHs are taken by DIS people, or do you think some people got them just by luck, or they could be DISers that aren't obsessed with this board.

I was on Deck 2 towards the aft. When I saw the SPH come available last week I wasn't quite sure I wanted to make the switch (I also couldn't believe my eyes!). I'm the one in the family more prone to motion sickness. But then I figured I might as well go for it. I'll just plan on taking something for it and hopefully I'll be OK.

Which cabins are considered the SPH? Tell me they are 5500-5522. If this is the case my three parties are in 5508-5510-5512. And this is our first disney cruise but they looked like good cabins to have :)

Marvin,

Welcome to our group!

The SPH (Secret Port Hole) cabins are cabins with portholes where the view is partially blocked. Therefore Disney charges the inside cabin rate (CAT 10) instead of the porthole cabin rate (CAT 8 and 9). There are only 6 of them on the entire ship. Cabin #s: 5020, 5022, 5024, 5520, 5522, 5524. They usually go right away. I got lucky and got one about a month ago when someone cancelled. It looks like you didn't get one of the SPHs, but you are just down the hall from us (and with an unblocked view!)

Is this your first Disney Cruise? It is ours. I've been looking forward to it for a long time!

Carol

I just did a google search and read about them. Was hoping I was getting something "extra" :)

So it seems I will be right by a couple of us here on the board huh? I am actually in 5510 my inlaws are in the two around me. We chose this area because of the proximity to the kids clubs for me and the nursery for my sis-in-law.

This is my first disney cruise. I have taken a RC cruise and several with The USN (United States Navy) :)

I'm Marvin's (wrightz05) sister-in-law and thought I'd join in on the thread to chat about our upcoming cruise that I am SO excited about! My husband (Josh) and our 2 year old daughter and 1 year old son are so ready. My daughter mentions the "Mickey Boat" almost every day! Counting down until our PARTAY......

Where is a good place to stay the night before leaving? I need to book this asap.

What time can we arrive at the port to check in? I would like to get the best number possible.

I cannot book reservations for Palo orr excursions until 75 days prior. I have read that these tend to fill up. Will I have to opportunity to do this prior to departure day? How many can be booked online for CC members etc.

What is the best dinner rotation everyone talks about? Pirate night is Thursday right? What night is formal?

I have read everything I can find online and continue to search. Alot of my questions have been answered but I am sure I will have lots more.

Can you tell I am excited and ready to go!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Welcome Marvin and Heather and the rest of the bunch. This website has been a tremendous help in finding out info. about the cruise.

Do you have early or late seating? We have late. At first I thought I wanted to change but now I think we're okay with it.

We are cruising for the first time as a family. I cruised Carnival a few years back and had a blast.

We haven't decided on excursions yet. Decisions, Decisions!

We are so excited to be going. Hope to see all of you at the get together the first day of the cruise.

Lisa

We have late seating as well. That will work out well for us because we usually eat late in general.

I think I have surfed every web site on the net trying to get answers to all the questions I have! :rotfl2:

Carol--
I didn't see your question until Wright quoted it. I'm in room 5020. I'll be on the look out for all of you DISers. If you hear a really loud man's voice, that's my husband (I will try to keep him quiet during sleeping hours, but he'll definitely be having fun!)

This is my first cruise, but I'll answer the questions I can.

--We are staying at the Country Inn and Suites (just a basic room) the night before. I booked it through Orbitz. We are renting a car Friday night and then we will return the car to Avis Saturday morning.

--We are planning on being at the port at 10:30

--Sunday night is formal night.

--I'm a little nervous about getting Palo myself, though we probably won't do any excursions. I think they do hold a certain number of Palo spaces to book the day you board the ship.

Welcome Aboard!

Dear Wrightz05:

Most people stay near the port Friday night (Ramada?) after flying in Friday. This makes for a quick an easy morning to the ship. If you have time Friday evening and can swing it, staying in DisneyWorld friday and doing the Pirate & Princess Party in the MK that night (3/14) is definitely worth it (see my post #214). Leaving for the port Sat. morning around 8-8:30 should get you a good number.

I will actually be driving in from Texas on Thur and Fri, arriving sometime mid afternoon Friday. I will have my own personal vehicle so I am looking for a place that is close enough to get up on Saturday morning and drop off the luggage and family while I return to the hotel to park. I have read that some have the cruise parking included. This way the DW could begin check in while I catch a ride back to the port from a very close/nearby hotel. Are there any within walking distance?

Do the Disney Shuttles run on Friday? If we arrive at Orlando at 3 p.m on Friday will we be able to get a shuttle to the port so that we could stay there that night? Or will we need to stay at the airport hotel and get it the next morning? We won't be doing DW since we did it last spring. Thanks for help with this.

We're driving from Virginia, and are trying to decide on hotels as well.

From my research, it seems the closest hotels with free cruise parking are the Residence Inn and the Radisson. (I don't think any are within walking distance) The Radisson has a free shuttle, where the Residence Inn charges $6/person (Coco Beach Shuttle).

We stayed at the Radisson last cruise. It was a little run down, but it worked out okay for us - probably because we didn't check in until 1:30am and left at 9am the next morning! :rotfl2:

Liz,

I don't think the shuttles run on Friday. They only run the day the cruise leaves.

We will be flying into Orlando and arriving about 1:00. We are doing a one-way car rental and renting a car from Budget and driving to the Port. We'll return the car Saturday morning. Then we are taking the Disney transportation back to the airport when we fly home.

Carol

Thanks, Carol. I haven't signed up for the Disney shuttle yet. Can you tell me what number to call or where to go to sign up? Thanks.
Liz

I'm not sure. I booked my trip through DU, so I just told them what I wanted and they took care of everything. If you didn't go through a travel agent, I would assume you could just call Disney (the number on the website) and have them set it up for you. I think I read somewhere that someone signed up once they got to the ship, but that would make me a little nervous. I'd rather have it all set before I go.
