March 11, 2006 - 7 Day Magic

the car is packed!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe I'm actually watching TV the night (well 7 hrs and 15 minutes) before we leave....usually we are running around packing all the "last minute" stuff!!!!!

Mickey&JoshNut...YEAH! How exciting! I wish I was officially done work and leaving now too... ;) . My son just keeps getting more and more excited and animated talking about the trip and it is infectious!

sk8ingmom...thanks...the pixie dust seems to be working...the mouth feels grrrrrr8! :woohoo:

It feels even more official now...I'm checked in, sent our itineraries to the parents and in-laws, DH has bought his new bathing suit and sandals...ahhhhh 2.5 more work days.....

DisneyPinDiva...yeah, I hear ya about the shopping woes...I can't find a new bathing suit and have been looking for a month or more! It sucks! I'm also doing a little more shopping every day...:)

Okay everyone...I'm signing off....going to "try" to get some sleep before our drive early tomorrow morning......can't wait to meet you all on deck 10 on Saturday!!!!!!!!

Safe travels everyone.

Finished my pillowcases for the boys. They turned out really well. Thanks for all the advice on how to do them. It was all I could do not to show them to my DSs, but I'm trying to keep them a surprise.

I'm supposed to be working on a church project due tomorrow, but I'm so much more interested in our vacation. Almost done with all the packing. Just washed the last load of laundry today, then I just need to add the toiletries on Friday and we're out of here!

And I gotta say Airborne rocks! DH has had a miserable cold the past few days, so when I had a sore throat and started sneezing this morning, I started gulping down the Airborne. I feel great. May have dodged a bullet there. Thanks for the great advice. :thumbsup2

Ditto on the Airborne! Everyone in my house has been miserably sick in the past week. I had to take my ds5 to the dr today. I normaly dont take them just for a cold, but i wanted to make sure he didnt have an infection. He doesnt, so thats good. Today is the first day my poor dh has actually felt alive in almost a week! Poor guy. He needs a vacation. Good thing were going on one!!!I really need a vacation! 3 Whiny boys in my face for 5 days now  :sad2: !! Ill be the first to sign up for.....HUh ? whats that you say? TEQUILA tasting..... Im soooo there!

I'M DONE WRITING MY REPORTS!...I'M DONE WRITING MY REPORTS!...I'M DONE WRITING MY REPORTS! I just finished after a long day (my class had projects due on european explorers today so we had a banquet of good cheer all afternoon in costumes with skits and all and then I had to mark the projects before entering their marks on the reports).

Now I can pack! but first shop! - I have had things out for the last week but nothing in bags yet but tomorrow night I am going to go out and buy a few things for me (don't tell my husband). I have been "picking up" things for my kids for a month and now like some of you, I have purchased much too much. The problem with buying things over time is that you forget what you have purchased. As I put clothes out on the extra bed in my son's room I realised that every piece of clothing I am packing is new for them and there is no way they can wear it all. Now starting to think that I haven't been paying off the cruise but rather the shopping sprees attached - keep telling myself that their spring and summer wardrobes are complete. Anyway I haven't gotten anything for myself except for a new bathing suit - yes I did the unbearable and went bathing suit shopping - so tomorrow night I am going out after the kids go to bed to "pick up" a few things for myself.
My son is desperate to see the fourth Harry Potter movie that came out on DVD today (even though he saw it at theatres) so I told him we will get it on Thursday night and I can pack in front of the TV. My kids are so excited they have been waking up early and want to sleep together Thursday night (the night before we leave).
Tomorrow I have to print up the transfers for their pillowcases and bind their journals (a surprise).

Otoole...we did the stingrays last time we were in Cayman with a company called Moby Dick tours. They were fabulous! We had booked something else and then our ship arrived late and we missed them, so we picked Moby from the pier and couldn't have been happier. You shouldn't have any problems.

My principal told me today that I have to write a grant by Thursday at 3:00! That really stinks! I wanted to do as little as possible this week, but I guess that is out! Will make the next two days fly by though! The problem with grants is that you write so many, but only get funded for so few. :sad2: Oh well, with the budget cuts in education, you have to get money where you can!

See everyone on Saturday. For those of you leaving tomorrow or Thursday, God's mercies in your travels and I (Laura) am looking forward to meeting each of you. :goodvibes

my hubby went BACK to the dr. for more meds today, and I am on a Z-pack. I am coughing like crazy, but apparently that is normal. HOWEVER... I asked the Magic Eight Ball if all of my family, and ALL of my DIS friends would be reasonably well for this trip and the answer was "YES!!!!" Not "ask again", not "it is certain" but a resounding YES!!!!!

The magic 8 ball NEVER lies!!!! :worship:

I SERIOUSLY can't wait to meet everyone!!! All of a sudden I am freaking out about meeting you all. My best friend Heidi and I are both 32 (pushing 33) and my hubby is 28!!! Way young!!! Her hubby is pushing 40, however, my hubby and her hubby get along so well! My father is 54 and my mom is 53. I hope we all meet up and have a fabulous time together!!! I feel sorry for the people who are going and know no one! I feel like I know so many people already!!!!

I need someone to promise me a HUGE HUG :goodvibes when we all meet!

I'm Wong - thanks for the tip re: stingray excursion. I infact checked out the Moby Dick tours website and almost booked with them after reading great reviews on DIS. I think we will probably end up doing that.

I know how you feel about grants - we don't have as many in Canada but I wrote one in November and never heard back so figured we didn't receive anything only to find out that we ended up receiving it only yesterday. It is for boys' literacy and I will have to track the grade five and six boys results on report cards and standardized tests for the next three years - now questioning how happy I am to have recieved it - a lot of work on top of my class.

The journals - at Mouseforless they have printable journal pages for kids. Most of the pages are for Disneyworld, however, there are a few for DCL - I am hoping at lunch today I can alter a few of the pages to fit our trip. I also sent a private message to "Nick&Josh'sMom" (I believe that is it) on the Discreative designs forum (it is something like that) and she made a cover page for each of my children's journals - they are beautiful with a pic of the magic and a cloud above in the shape of Mickey mouse in front of an old map of the western caribbean. She also made me designs with my children's names surrounded by Disney characters for their pillowcases. People are so nice! I couldn't believe these women do this for free! It definitely relieved some serious stress on my part since I had been playing around with designs for far too long and was coming up with nothing nearly as beautiful.

Kc, I hope your mom doesnt read these forums, or shes gonna kill you for telling everyone her age!! I am 27 and My Dh is 31. Yes Im 27 and I have a 9 year old. We started very young! I was only 17 when we got married(No i wasnt knocked up!! :lmao: ) But i did get pregnant 3 months later :headache: We were just young and Stupid!! Well were going on 11 years and 2 wonderful kids later, and were still going! Everyone seems to be starting to get better. hopfully well all be well. Everytime weve been on the cruise, my boys have been sick!! NOT THIS TIME!! Kc and you 8ball said so!!

DS8 came home from scholl last night with a temp of 101 and coughing!!
He feels better this morning and temp is down to 99 but I'm still gonna haul him to the Doc this morning as soon as they open.
He just finished a round of Strep a few weeks ago and I hope it's not back again!!

Oh no! That is EXACTLY what happened to us last year! The Dr. told us to go ahead and just go anyway because there was nothing they could do. Here is a TON of pixie dust for you!!!

I feel your pain - I (and my employer) live and die by donors and grants. The infamous 'they' are cutting health and social service grants just like education. I have 2 grants to finish today before I leave - what a pain. I spent 13 hours at work yesterday and I'm still not sure how I am going to get everything done.

Oh well, no matter how much I have left to do, by midnight tonight I will be sitting in the airport...ahem...restaurant...with a Corona!

See you on the boat! I am on vacation, and will no longer be touching the computer.

Ok so i told you guys i took him to the dr and they did a strep culture and the rapid test was negative. He felt a little better today so i took him to school. As i was walking in the front door, the phone was ringing and, yep, its the Dr. The overnight culture was positive for strep! So i had to run out the door and go back to the school to pick him up. The nurses office was already packed with sick kids! He cant go again tomorrow, since he will still be contagious. Man, if my son flunks Kindergarten because he misses too many days, Im gonna feel like CRAP! But what can i do? The boys got strep!!
The GOOD thing is that he is on antibiotics now and should be fine by Friday.
I am now the hand washing natze and have been running around the house spraying everything with Lysol. I took all the sheets off the beds and washed them. And im taking everything i can to prevent me from getting sick! Garlic, airborne, and Zicam! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: some pixie dust for me, and the rest of you!!

Wow. Miss a day and look at all the posts you miss. Here's hoping everyone is feeling better for the cruise. At least in the case of the strep throat, the kids won't be contagious after they start the antibiotics. And it's amazing how quickly they start to feel better once they're start on the antibiotics. We went thru the same thing with the strep coming back. DS8 had it twice, but amazingly DS5 never caught it.

Pixie Dust for all. pixiedust:
