Marathon Weekend?

I'm a WDW newbie I was just looking threw prev posts and I noticed something about a Marathon weekend?

I will be heading to WDW (MK) on Jan 7th for one day... Will I be affected by this? and how?

This will be my second year going down for the marathon. It will not affect park attendance. It will affect traffic and crowds at resorts. Just be aware that some roads will be closed or will wait for all runners to come accross. They will still have access to the parks. MK is at about mile 10 I think so by 9:00 they will all be thru the park. The finish line is at Epcot.

Agreed, you should be fine at Magic Kingdom, they should be gone. But they will be in all the other parks.

We went during Marathon weekend this past year and found the crowds to be pretty heavy. I know all of the rooms were sold out for the weekend. If I had to do it over again I would of avoided that weekend. You should be okay though just going to MK. I wouldn't see a problem

Getting to the parks should not be a problem, special bus service is provided for runners, not WDW regular buses.

In the parks, the order is EPCOT, MK, AK, MGM, EPCOT on Sunday, Jan 7. Runners in the park shouldn't be a problem either as we'll only run through a section of the park while it will still be open to other guests.

Runners in the park won't be the problem but since some of the roads are closed, getting to the parks may be a problem. Traffic seems to be busier at MK and Epcot until around 10:00. Then things should start clearing up.
