Marathon Weekend kids races

We are in the planning phases for our 2015 trip. My husband and I are planning on running the half and our kids want to do the 5k and/or the Mickey Mile.

How do they run the kids races? Do they do the MM Thursday, Friday and Sat or just one of those days? What time do those races typically take place?

Trying to decide which day we want to arrive.

RunDisney will typically run the Mickey Mile on multiple days. IIRC we had our choice between Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. My daughter ran the Mickey Mile this year. It started at 12:30 pm, which was plenty of time for me to get from the half marathon finish line in Epcot's parking lot, to WWOS via our room at the POP (I needed a shower real bad) and the POP's food court.
