Marathon Weekend 2026

SAFD team car all the way, really prefer driving myself and leaving when I want, listening to my music, my climate control, etc.

Medals - I don’t hate them - I prefer classic especially for the marathon but I’m doing dopey and looking at these as a set, I like that they finally seem to go well together. Usually seems like they got it and then one jumps out as the square peg in the round hole.
I do hope there aren’t any little oddities, it looks like Dopey may be mounted off of the medal.

SAFD: I typically get to WDW and park my car for the duration, preferring to ride the busses and the skyway. Stayed at Bonnett Creek one year and had someone drop me, and that meant a looooong walk in the traffic backup. All other races I've taken the bus with no problems. Jan 2024, I was on a bus that missed the Epcot exit; we went to the next exit, looped back, and were there in plenty of time. Winding up on I-4?!! Hadn't heard of that failure mode until now. Definitely not fun to think about.

The medals: I really like the marathon and the Dopey. (Bummer that I'm not doing Dopey, but only for the medal). The others all look nice other than the Valentines Day medal. Just no words on that one.

I like these medals. I'm kind of sad that I'm only doing the 10K and Full because I think they all look good. The half medal is actually a lot better than I thought it would be. It's actually cute, but not as cute as Chip & Dale!

My problem with the whole theme is that there’s nothing that ties it to the specific race weekend. If shown the artwork, would you guess that it was for MW? What specifically about the theme “book” screams MW? And how sad that Disney doesn’t have a vast history of using books to introduce its movies, and must use generic representations of book subjects instead of established characters and movies featuring books. That said, I think the marathon medal with random dragon is fine.

Regarding the half medal...they did warn us about the theme back in February :rotfl2:

Overall, medals are very similar to the original graphics. I really like them! My favorite 5k medal in a while.
They did warn us. Definitely my least fave but I'll survive. I think that it looks like Valentine's Day is what makes me not like it.

The Dopey, Goofy and Full are fantastic. Will always love some C&D and Pluto. 5 outta 6 ain't bad.

🤣 Personally I’m a hard no, but DW is running it this year with me for her first HM since princess 2010ish. Super excited to have her out there doing some long distance again and the medal is perfect

SAFD: We are DVC, home resort is AKL (which we love!) but I always waitlist for the Poly as I really like taking the monorail to/from the half and full. The TTC is right next to the DVC wing of the Poly so super convenient!
If no waitlist and I am at AKL I am team bus every time.

Medals = Overall I like them other than the half - big YIKES on that one! Goofy is probably my fave.

Rather than manufacturing themes, I wish the theme could just be Marathon Weekend. No need to do more than that.
