Marathon Weekend 2026

I’ll be back for another year of MW in 2026. No clue what races yet. We will see how I feel on registration day. I really liked the 10k course this year, so I’ll probably include it in my plans. Maybe will look at adding the Marathon or Half again; don’t think this feels like a Dopey year.

For POT, do I submit it when I'm actively registering on registration day? Or do I do it prior (like today)? Thanks
The best advice is to do it after you've registered. You cannot enter it prior. You could enter it while registering but it slows the process down. Since the races sell out quickly and you can update it for a few months after registration, it's best to wait and enter it when you're not in such a frenzy.

You can only submit either when you register or go back after and add it after (as long as before the deadline). Some people wait and go back to add it later to get through registration as quickly as possible to avoid getting shut out if race sells out during your registation process.

Option C: None of the above. PoT can be added/edited in your race registration after you register. Registration Day is a madhouse and every second matters--races can sell out while you are registering since Disney does not "hold" your entry in a cart and give you time to complete all the info . The fastest thing to do to assure you secure your race entry is to select a non-PoT time, complete the registration and then go back later and modify that portion of your registration.

This post (and the one just before) have a detailed breakdown of registering. Worth a look.

You can actually give them a POT at race expo. A friend of mine did that in 2020 as they obviously had him in the wrong corral. Might not work every time but worth a shot.

This is certainly worth trying if you have a qualifying race but forget to enter it before the deadline, but it's not a strategy to rely on. As others have said, registering and then going back to add your POT afterwards is your best option. Just remember to select that you'll be slower than the POT cutoff initially, and then you can change it when you go back and add your time.

That's really the only time it should work (when they screw up). They don't want to deal with people submitting late POTs at the expo to get corral changes, and this weekend was a disaster with nonfunctional bibs so they really didn't have the capacity to deal with much more than that. Maybe if you register after the POT deadline and you're unable to add yours, occasionally if you're new and you say you don't know how it works. We had a couple of these this past weekend but not sure how it worked out for them when they went to runner relations. They had been dealing with a lot already.

Really though, there's no reason to not submit POT before the deadline if you have it. And if you get in after the POT deadline, register with the earliest pace estimate and hope for the best at runner relations.

Well here's a fine kettle of fish.... I may need to go to a conference that is during MW signup. So much for having my computers all set up to optimize chances of race entry.
OTOH, the conference is in Orlando. Shame I can't go sign up in person.
What kind of company would schedule a conference on such an important day?! 🤣🤣 That's terrible

Good morning RunDisney All-Stars! Marathon Weekend 2025 is in the books and it's time to turn our attention to the 2026 event. Sundays Are For Disney (SAFD) is a weekly tradition we've had for several years now. SAFD is a question of the week, sometimes Disney related and sometimes running related, that helps to build community, pass information and experience along and keep engagement up during the year leading up to the big event. I served as your Ghost Host for SAFD for MW 2025. So, on to our first MW 2026 SAFD. Do you want to continue the SAFD tradition this year? If so, does anyone want to take the reins?

SAFD: I would like to see us continue SAFD. I think it's a great way to keep people involved and maintain excitement for the race weekend. RunDisney events feature early registration and then a long wait for the event itself. It's easy for it to drop off the radar in the dead spaces and I enjoy having the opportunity to keep in touch with everyone. I've learned a lot from the folks here through SAFD and hope I've passed along some useful info myself. As for hosting, I'm happy to continue if folks want me to, but I don't want to deny the opportunity to someone else who would like to take a spin with it.
