Marathon Weekend 2024

They could have a special challenge medal.

It would supercede my Castle to Chateau medal as the most expensive piece of artwork I own.
You probably don't want to try for a Six-Star (World Marathon Majors) medal then! I'm not even going to add up what that one's cost me when I get it in March. I think I'm afraid of the answer! :teeth:

Pffft, those are rookie numbers. It’s all about the World Marathon Challenge—7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days, beginning in Antartica. I haven’t checked on flight costs to Novolazarevskaya, but I‘m sure they’re eminently reasonable. I find that that people crazier than me help to justify my own insane decisions.

I'll hopefully be starting that journey this fall and will knock another one off the list next fall (depending on whether I decide to defer Berlin or Chicago.) Congrats to you and here's to the journey! :flower3:

Well I may need to make some decisions about my original plans of dopey to DL for C2C. I threw our names into a lottery for a spot at brooks lodge to see the bears in Alaska in 2024. And shockingly we got a spot. It’s a bucket list trip and…not cheap. I also turn 40 in 2024. I wanted to do big things to celebrate the milestone so I don’t totally want to write off C2C. Why is it that I’ve picked such expensive things to be my hobby?! Didn’t someone say running is a cheap hobby??

This starts next week! rD veteran Michael (@runthesmallworld on IG) is doing it this year and he's been posting about his training. He left for the first destination yesterday.

Wishing I hadn't read this post and subsequently googled the medal, but I did, so now I have a brand new portal account and claimed my two stars.

A friend of mine organized the first 7 on 7 in 7 several years ago. It’s far better to start in Australia and fly west because it gives you more rest. :)

All for the low low price of €39,900!

Oh! I finally got my medals hung! I say finally because I have had all the medals on the rack on the right (pictured below) in a box for years and years. MW finally motivated me to buy medal racks and hang everything. I decided runDisney needed its own rack and will need to be filled up. I think I’m also going to frame the 30th anniversary poster I got at bib pickup and hang it above the Disney rack. Cute doggo for extra attention. 😃

Wow, that's so awesome! Brooks Lodge is on our bucket list too. Can't pass that up!! Was this your first year entering the lottery?
