Marathon Weekend 2021

SAFD:

Disney:
Wine & Dine (registered for Fall 2020, we'll see)
Dopey (have only done the full. registered for January, we'll see)
Tower of Terror 10 to return

Non-Disney:
Boston (fingers crossed as I have a BQ time for 2021, but lots of uncertainty here)
National Park races (Zion, Yosemite, Yellowstone come to mind as I've visited all of these but did not run anywhere near there)
Big Sur (a friend ran it and said this was epic, but I'm wimpy when it comes to (up)hills)
Avenue of the Giants
Mt Desert Island Marathon (admittedly copying off of @MissLiss279 list, but I have visited there and really loved it)
Maybe one downhill race just to see what that would be like

I sometimes struggle racing when it's sunny... I gotta think there's some shade on this course.

Just joined disboards because I’m hoping for some direction/information for the 2021 marathon weekend!! After years of indecision, my friend and I decided to run the dopey! It’s my 50th birthday a few days before and thought it would be an awesome celebration! My daughter decided to sign up for the full and run “just” that with us. Apparently I pulled a rookie move and tried to sign up with my friend and we didn’t make it in time unfortunately my daughter did get in to the marathon We thought we’d be ok because my card WAS charged for the dopey, but that fell off later that night. So, we are scouring the internet trying to find any alternative ways to register for the dopey, or at least the marathon so my daughter doesn’t have to run alone, well not really alone, but you know what I mean! I’ve looked at the charity and the travel agents and there don’t seem to be any registrations left. I’m pretty sure we’re out of luck, but thought if anyone knows anything, it would be you all. Is there any hope? Should I cancel our hotel for the weekend?

I would hope so too! I almost signed up for it a year or two ago, but then I think it conflicted with something else?? I think logistically it was going to be a little harder for lodging and such than a lot of races.

I wouldn’t cancel yet. It’s possible they may release more bibs later, when there is more clarity in how COVID (and treatment) is going to be next winter.

Others will add more info, but a place to start is to read back a dozen pages or so. The thought (perhaps hope or guess) is that runDisney released very few bibs for the initial signup, and if covid issues improve, may well issue more bibs later this summer. So if you are not able (or willing) to go through a TA, then you will have to keep a close eye on these boards and/or the runDisney facebook groups.

Although I have not used one, the advantage of going through a TA is less stress regarding continually checking runDisney to see if more bibs have been released. TAs do require that you book your hotel through them (often at reduced rates).

I am sorry to hear you missed out on the initial registration for the Dopey. The speculation mentioned by others is that they might release more bibs later. You may want to research the charity angle and see if there are openings that way as well. Some went the TA route and found a bib, but that was within a day of the registration opening. I am not sue any will be left. Never hurts to reach out to them though.

I can relate to the 50 spins around the sun milestone. I have signed up to get my first Marathon and first Dopey in before I turn 50...I will hopefully make it with just under two month to spare. I wish you all the best in finding a bib. Half a century is a significant milestone that should be celebrated with a runDisney event!

I think it’s the Marathon du Medoc. Seems like quite the experience with wine, cheese, steak, oysters and orchestras.
