Marathon Weekend 2017!

I pleaded my case to rD today when I went in for the refund. Told them this was my second rD event, with the 2015 W&D being the first. I let them know that I'm currently registered for the SWLS next weekend to accomplish the C2C Challenge. I told them I would like to opt out of that race and get my money back. I explained to her that I just didn't feel as though I earned the one today. Even if I went to DL, I would end up with more unearned medals. She was understanding and kind enough to refund my money to my credit card.

I know this is not rD's fault and they did an outstanding job making this right, but I don't think I'll be doing anymore rD events. Too much $$$, effort, and planning for it to bust on me the only times I've tried it. Think I'll just stick to 5k's back home.

Everyone stay safe and good luck with your future races.

Well, our day is winding down. My wife and I spent almost 2 hours putting together our outfits, changing our minds, switching things around, adding layers, removing layers, and so on... :scared:
This is a very different forecast than the one a few day ago!

I think we finally have it figured out. We are used to running in cold temperatures, but not in addition to winds like these. We each have a long sleeve base layer, a short sleeve shirt, and another long sleeve. And we are okay with gloves and warmer stuff for the corrals that we can toss before the race. Doesn't that sound sane to everyone?

Have a great race tomorrow, everyone!

Totally - this is why I won't do destination races to places that I wouldn't be happy to go if the race is a mess. These trips are too expensive to get nothing out of them. Last year, broken foot - still went to WDW and had a blast. This year the weather for the Dopey = :crazy2:. Hope next year is better, but I am still loving my time in WDW.

Is anyone running in shorts tomorrow? I normally run in short sleeves and shorts when it is above 45, which it will be at the end of the end of the race. I am leaning toward shorts and long sleeves, but I am worried about the wind beating against my legs. I normally run extremely "warm", and I would rather freeze than overheat. However, the wind may push me to running in long tights and long sleeves.

Good luck to everyone running tomorrow! I hope it's a great race that makes up for all the drama today! :cheer2::cheer2:

This is a good option.

Has anyone selected the two ticket option and are there restrictions such as an expiration date?

I've asked a couple of similar ticket questions, but I think they've been lost in the shuffle of all the hustle and bustle on this thread over the last day :) Hopefully someone can answer us once things settle down. To me, it seems like the 2 one day hoppers are a better value than the gift card. I asked if they could ever be combined by guest services into one ticket? I'm thinking no?

Well if I had tights with me, I'd probably wear them. But I'll be in shorts and once I get moving I think I'll be fine. My legs don't usually bother me like my hands and arms. I'll just keep my sweats on as long as I can before I have to surrender them to the drop bag.

I am in a similar situation. I like to wear shorts if at all possible.
I'm wearing shorts, but decided to wear compression socks to cut down on exposed skin.

Looking at Accuweather, the actual temps will not reach 45 until noon, with most of the time in the 30s. If you factor in windchill, the temp won't reach 45 until 1:00 or so, with wind chills in the teens and 20s. Given that the NWS has issued a Wind Chill Advisory you are probably going to be safer going with the tights.

Just heard someone talking about how they are going to try and get to the 13 and see how it goes from there. I honestly can't decide if I'm more concerned for the runners that upgraded and the impact on the first race or on the second half when a lot are going to be fading.

I'm concerned for them too as just a person that is following along. There is a huge difference in training for a half versus a full. I mean, if it was my husband I wouldn't be worried as he's survived running 20 miles around Naples before and thus would most likely make it to that point fine and then have to walk at worst case.

I hope people realize to pull back and play it safe! There is no shame in walking if you passed your your max training.

They wouldn't be able to be combined most likely.

Would you ever come and visit for just one day? I think you have to figure that into the equation. If you buy multi days then the days get cheaper the more days you buy. I think that devalues the one days some but I could be overcomplicating it. What is the value of the gift card?

My friend was supposed to do the half today. When I texted him he told me he was going to do the full tomorrow. I know he has done 13 miles but I don't know how he is going to do 26. I wished him good luck
I have a friend doing the same. This was to be her first half. I met up with her today and she was very calm. I hope both of them finish!!

If any one at POP needs throw away men's pants tomorrow (medium) and isn't already in bed, I will happily wake up to give them to you at 2:30am ( not back at the hotel until 10 tonight) just pm me.

I have my pair from today that went unused and I am not taking them home.

My hands and arms are what get cold as well. The other variable that my running tights are tights I have not previously run in. I threw them in my suitcase at the last minute just in case.... and now here I am.

I wish that I had compression socks.

Weather Channel has the actual temperature reaching 45 at 10:00. If Accuweather is correct, I would definitely chose long tights.

So, way back when (last month) I was on here talking about how my TA gave me a goofy bib because she was out of halfs. I guess that was a good move now?? Just a couple of weeks ago I decided I would attempt the full as a fun run, knowing I could get through at least half and walk the last half if needed. No dreams about running for time. That is saved for 2018. I have pretty much the same plan now. Trained for the half and ran 14 miles during wine and dine in November. I should clear 14-16 miles without issue. Going to go slower from the start and then feel out the rest, but ok with walking. And/or run walking too.

I have heard there will be a shuttle at the 13.1 point though. Not sure where it started.

If you don't have the right clothes for tomorrow's race, head over to the Orlando premium outlets. Nike store has great sales going on and the website says they are open until 11pm. Long tights, athletic sweatshirts, etc.

I always wear shorts so shorts It'll be.As another poster stated I also don't get as cold in my legs as much as in my upper body.I'll be going into the corrals with shorts, long sleeve tech shirt with a short sleeve tech shirt on top.On top of those two I'll put on an old sweater that I'll throw out at the start.I'll wear gloves as well as a buff that will go on my neck that I can use to cover my face if needed,I remember running the half in 2015 wishing I had one of those on due to the wind. Then in the corrals I'll have a thick blanket from Walmart until the race starts.I also don't plan on getting there too early and once I start running I hope the wind isn't too horrible as that's what can make it feel really cold.

We just got back from there. I love shopping, but the entire Premium Outlets experience was horrible... no parking spots, wall to wall people, long lines in every store (Nike had at least 50 people in line - we stopped counting after that). The crowds at the outlet stores made the Disney parks seem empty.
