Good morning and Happy New Year, runDisney all-stars!

We are mere days away from the kickoff of marathon weekend. Time for one last Sundays are for Disney question:

WHO'S READY??

I hope everyone has a great race(s) and that I get to meet some of you down in Florida.

After running my running club's New Years Day 5 Miler on icy roads, I'm ready!

I'm about as ready to be for running as I can! I want to run today but I'm finishing up antibiotics for a sinus infection and don't want to push it so still thinking on that. I leave Tuesday and still need to grab a few things and finish packing so not ready in that sense. Glad the weather took a shift though since it was supposed to be an overnight ice storm for a bit there night before my flight!

Finish Line is under construction! These pictures are from roughly 6 p.m. EST on Sunday.

Also, signage has been going in for the water/med/character stops. I imagine supply drop will start tomorrow and Tuesday. This is definitely more last-minute than 2016 - the Finish Area tents were already erected on NYE 2015 when I was at Epcot.

I got in 2 5ks this weekend to celebrate the new year and I'm feeling ready! A little tight today, but with some stretching, yoga, and relaxing I'm going to be ready! This will be my roommate's first half marathon and she's starting to get nervous... I've forgotten what it's like to be running your first one, but I do remember some of the nerves that start happening this week!

No worries, I got you covered! :D (See attached!)

Me too! Maybe we'll see you there!

Thank you!!

Yeah, see ya later 2016. You sucked!

A friend of mine said in the last minutes he just rewatched the final quarter of finals game 7. It was his happy place :)

Edited to prevent spoilers!

Mandatory dance breaks, boozes, fries, potentially defeating the Yeti, surviving an elevator drop and beating those balloons.

I'm calling it UnMarathon 2017: The Most Non-Marathon Marathon Ever!

This is fantastic. Reading things like this has me thinking I may attempt the full now. But just do it for fun. I am waiting to decide based on how I feel post half. But I feel I can run at least 16 miles on my half training. And then just do way longer walk breaks and stop for everest, TOT, beer. Everything that sounds fun and distracts me! I adore the last portion of the course so that would be motivational. And if I make it a complete fun run, hopefully it wont ruin me for my actual running it plans in 2018.

Did we get confirmation about the path of the half and full - do they go through the castle, or not?

This is an excellent idea. ::yes::

The magnification of the course map makes it look like around and not through for the half. Also, on page 4 of the Event Guide, from the "Welcome Letter":

"This year we are celebrating the 20thanniversary of the Walt Disney World®Half Marathon taking place on Saturday, with runners starting at Epcot® and traveling around Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom® Park."

I agree. The half will go around, upsetting thousands of people who won't have bothered to read the guide or look at the course map. I can see the outcry on social media now.

"We didn't get to run through the castle! I want my money back!"
"Did you look at the course map or read the guide where it said you wouldn't?"
"Well, no, but waaaahhhhh!"

While I agree they should've also put that description on the website when people were signing up. Previously the half had always gone through the castle so I think people expect that.

You're assuming they knew back then what the course would be. You give rD too much credit. Kind of like the disappearing deferrals, they tend to make this up as they go along.
