HEY EVERYBODY!!! I'm getting an early start on the new thread while I am thinking about it! I loved all the posts everyone put on Sunday's thread. And.......... sincew we've all confessed our sins, I will confess mine and say I was supposed to walk 5 miles yesterday and I didn't do it. It's just SO HOT HERE!! And even if I start early am and do it on the treadmill, I just can't seem to move to it! So- I'm gonna try first thing this morning to get those 5 miles behind me. Since Patti isn't so concerned about my speed, maybe I'll just go to the mall and walk for 2 hours. At least I'll be inside and it will be cool. Does your mall have a walking program? Our does. You can go like 7 am and walk around the mall. Since I only live 4 miles from it, it wouldn't be hard at all for me to go there. YEP! I think that's what I'll do in the AM.

Ashley- I sent you a PM about the shirts.

Good luck this week everyone with your walking. LET"S ALL RECOMMIT TO DO THIS WEEK RIGHT!! Only 1 week- we should be able to do that right?

What did everyone do for Daddy's Day? We had a cookout and had hamburgers- myt DH favorite! He's such a sweet, simple guy!

HA! I just reread what I wrote and realized I could walk down to the mall and almost have my entire walk down!

Sorry, I have been missing.
I am still planning to do the Marathon.

Did an hour yesterday. Not sure how far, but I will try to figure it out. I did three 15 minute walks with a 5 minute job between each session and a few extra minutes for cool down!

On my way out the door for a thirty minute walk with a 5 min jog in the middle.

Good morning everyone!!!

Today is the start of a new week, and I will recommit myself too.

Had planned to do some walking outside yesterday as it was nice, but ended up nursing a migraine, so that plan went out the window.

I WILL get on the TM tonight!!!

Hope everyone's Monday ends up being a good day.

ok girlie pies --- we are all girls right? -- anyhow

up at 6:30 a.m. this morning and hit the trail with DN -- she was gone all last week and only walked so she didn't want to jump back into a full jog session. So we walked .5 to our path and did the whole path down and back (4 miles) alternating each 1/4 mile jogging and walking. I consider this speed training;) as we all know how fast she jogs. i kept up with her all but one time. We finished out with a last 1/4 mile jog up a monster hill in which I didn't keep up with her but it was a good hill. Did I read in an article on-line that there is a 'hill' near the Contemporary on the half-marathon path? So we covered 5 miles in like 70 mins. I told her on our last leg home that I thought we could've walked fast on those legs and she's like "ok - we'll do it wed" so i guess that's our plan:hyper:

Ashley -- i'd like to know what you price out for the shirts you talked about. $40 would be a max for me i'm sure, i'd rather hope for something around $25??

trola -- i thought you mentioned some leg/foot aching? maybe i'm mistaken. here's a link to see the orthotics I have just say the word and send me your address if you want them

for daddy's day we grilled steak, garlic bread, smashed potatoes and corn on the cob. I ate moderately but kept eating m&m's from his gift (m&m dude dispenser which thankfully went to work with him today) and then ate 2, yes 2, big lofthouse chocolate cookies! TOM stopped in later and I went "duh??!!"

someone asked about if it mattered if you divide your mileage into two sessions? at this stage I would say it doesn't really matter, but i'm not a trainer by any means!! Personally i'm focusing on building up my endurance so that I can go the distance. I'm hoping to incorporate some night-strolls into my routine as well -- I would like in the fall we'll be looking at how far we can go at one setting. Remember that at the race you are going to be sooooo pumped up! the crowds, the atmosphere, etc will carry you and energize you more than you might imagine.

off to be productive today --

:cool1: :cool1: I'm doing the dance of joy (which used to formally be done only when my WDW trip were quickly approaching) :cool1::cool1:
Wanna know why????

BECAUSE I ACTUALLY WALKED THAT 5 MILES I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO ON SUNDAY!!!

and to top it off- I actually walked them on the day I was supposed to walk them! YEAH ME!!!!!

I can't believe I did this. I really wasn't in the mood to walk, but kept thinking about you guys and the weather had cooled down- so I couldn't reason my way out of walking. My DH and I went down to the lake front and walked for 1 hour 40 minutes. It was so hard the first 2 miles! Then, the rest of it seemed pretty easy. But after it was all said and done,. and I got out of the car to go into the house- I FELT LIKE AN OLD LADY!!! My back muscle (lower) were sore!!! this morning I still feel it some- but it's not that bad- not as bad as it was last night. I imagine that this is similar to what I'll feel the day after in January too, so I just pretended I finished the half marathon and reveled in my gloriouos victory! I AM A CHAMPION MY FRIEND!!!! AND I"LL KEEP ON FIGHTING TO THE END! This should be our new theme song! I feel so good this morning. I'm really proud of myself for doing that walking assignment.

Mom- I am a girlie pie. It sounds like you had a great walk/jog this morning. And sounds like you too are really pushing and growing in your routine. You know that's the truth when you are the one to pout forth the next challenge! (walking faster). I'm proud of you too! Your meal from yetsreday sounds
yummy-licious!

Monica- hope you're feeling better from that migraine. I have never had one, but know several people that do- and it puts them on thir backs for the whole day. Don't over do it with the walking tonight.... don't want that thing coming back any time soon!

CarolA- good for you for adding that 5 minute jog in there! I haven't even tried jogging yet. And I probably won't until i lose at least 30 more lbs. It would just pulverize my knee joints and hips if I tried. My goal is to walk/jog the half. I sure hope I can do that.

Well everyone..... Have a happy day- and go out and get taht adrenaline rush today!

Sorry to poist so much today.... but I have new info and lots of energy today! ;)

I sent an email to my coach about my hip and muscle soreness from yesterday. She said that when it's hot ( and even when it's not) we should be drinking a glass of water every 30 mins. She said that the muscle soreness was probably due to this and possibly walking too fast. I did drink yesterday, but maybe not enough. Patti also said That I should start out with a 5-10 minute stroll/stretch routine and end that way as well. Just thought I'd pass that along as someone else might experience the same thing I did.

Beth- I did say I was going to make a t-shirt iron on. I actually thought about that last week- and will do it today. I'll let everyone know when it's done. It shouldn't take that long. It's just doing it!

)Okay everyone!
Not sure if anyone noticed (i'm not trying to be Eeyore:p) - but I stopped posting because I had nothing to add. This is because I too stopped doing my regularo routine!

Tonight - I will walk. I will!!!!!

Congrats to all off you who jumped back on the wagon already. It's hard to get back on.

Karen - I am so happy for you that you walked all 5 MILES. Yippee for you.

Mishoe - how did it go on the TM.

I leave for Disney in 5 days. I wonder if I will train at all there. Although I will already be walking A LOT!

WOAH! So many posts! I just wanted to toss a quick one on about those shirts...

My mom is checking into it, since she does regular business with the company. I just thought I would have it looked into, didn't mean to take over anybody's reins! (Is that how you spell it?) Just had a little idea one day, and it's just hard to slow myself down when I get excited. Anyway, that's all for now. I will do a longer one ltaer!

Ashley:wave2:

No not all girls out there! I just signed up to walk the 1/2 marathon last week. My best friend will be running his 6th DW Marathon. We (myself and the Disney Doll) have been at his first 5 as his cheering section. Now the "Disney Doll" will have to cheer for her hubby too! I started walking a few months ago. I walk with my doctor/friend every morning at 6AM for a 1/2 hour. Then on the weekends we go for a 5 mile walk on Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday we cut it to 4 miles due to family commitments. Right now I am working on endurence. I need to next work on my pace. Right now I am at a 17 minute conforable pace. My goal is to get that down to 15 minutes.

Welcome TERRY!

It's great to get new people here!

BTW I went for a walk and I felt sick after. I think I didn;t drink enough water today.:(

Hi everyone,

I'm back from my Hilton Head vacation and I too need to recommit this week. We had a WONDERFUL vacation but I ate too much and didn't exercise nearly as much as I had planned, but it was vacation afterall, but I am again 3 pounds heavier. We did a lot of walking in our exploring the island and Charleston and Savannah but these were just "strolls". I only had time to walk the beach twice, once for 45 min. and once for an hour. I did get out yesterday for an hour long fast walk with the dog and I added in doing some hills, believe it or not my legs handled adding in those hills OK but I feel it in my "but" muscles today LOL.

I just finished reading the end of the thread from when I left a little over a week ago and read all of last weeks thread. Everyone is doing so great and you have motivated me to head outside for a walk when I finish posting here. I really liked the theme that seemed to come through last week of We will NOT be swept. I am going to print that and hang that on the fridge and in front of the treadmill with my other inspirations too.

I like the different ideas of a WISH Walker shirt and I like the idea of it being on a "dry max" type of material. Karen and Ashley let us know what you come up with.

Has anyone gotten the email about the rooms fro the marathon? In wading through all the emails from when we were gone it didn't look like there was one from Kamy and in skimming through the board I didn't see anything but I just want to make sure I didn't miss anything about the deposit when I was gone last week.

Karen CONGRATULATIONS on getting in your 5 mile walk!!!!! You go girl!!!

Welcome Terry, it sounds like you're doing great with your training.

Well I'm off to put in yet another load of laundry (we brought home a mountain of dirty laundry) and then out for a quick walk.
Have a good night everyone!

Cheryl :wave2:

Karen, thanks for starting us up on our new thread!!

I think I might be back on track today. Actually I had a better food day yesterday and I'm sure today will be back on track. I need to get back in the habit of tracking my points over on the WW site. I walked 22 minutes this AM. That's a little shorter than I had planned, but I'm Ok with that. It was so hot and muggy this AM that I really have to hit the road earler than the 530 that I started out today. But, I have accepted Karen's challenge and am TOTALLY recommited for this week.

Dad's day was quiet and fun. Hubby decided to be lazy and skipped church, but the rest of us went. We had meatloaf, mashed potatoe, corn, watermelon, and rolls for lunch, and the kids made a really cute dad's day cake for him. It looked like a shirt in a box. OH and I got him the "Goofy-man of the house Tshirt". It was a good day.

Karen, can you PM me your address? Thanks!!
:cool1: :cool1: <--That's me dancing with you for doing the 5 miles yesterday!! You are awesome and you are making it happen!! YOU ARE ALREADY CHAMPION!! I wish I lived close enough to the mall to walk it. With an hour between me and there....it's just too far. But I could do laps at the Piggly Wiggly here in my town. What do you think? I could get the deli to hand me water as I pass by?

CarolA, glad you are back! An hour is a great way to jump back in!

Monica, hope the migrane has subsided and that you are able to get back to your routine. They really sideline me when I get them!

ohMom, I would love the orthotics. I'll PM you my addy. Thanks!! What a motivator your DN is!! Like having your own personal trainer, isn't she?? And speaking of M&M's, have you seen the Ogre sized ones? There's a shrek on the package and they are huge!! I have to stay away from those! I'm a baker and I know that the cookies I give are 7 WW points each. I do the cookie ministry for our church and I have to remember not to lick my fingers!!lol I was the one asking about splitting mileage. Thanks.

Krista, Congrats on getting back out there and walking! I hope youa re feeling better now. ::yes:: I thought I'd been off the wagon long enough that it had run over me, but it only takes one step to jump back on. 5 days to Disney!! I check my timer every day but it doesn't seem to get any closer!! I was supposed to go to Orlando this weekend, but it doesn't look like I can make that happen....Have a great trip and with all the walking at WDW, you'll be fine!! Drink more water!!

Ashley, as always, I enjoy your excitement and enthusiasm!!

Terry, welcome. Neat that you will be able to share both "sides" of the marathon with us. I'm a walker, too, and 15 min/mile is also my goal. Congrats on the changes you are making for yourself!

Cheryl, welcome back. Good idea about the "We will not be swept" signs. I think I will do that too. I hate the laundry thing after vacation. I finally learned that we truly unpack when we vacation...no living out of suitcases anymore and then we take the largest two and one is whites and one is darks. If I do laundry on vacation, we just simply roll the suitcases there, and if not, when we come home we just open them one at a time and wash whatever is inside. I think our traveling evolves over time. ::yes::

Ok...you guys have heard enough from me today. Thank you for putting up wtih my pity party the other day. I think I'm back on track now, and I'm not sure I would have been without all of your encouragement!! You guys are the best. Thanks!!

~~Beth

Just a quick note to say check your emails!!

Kamy just sent emails and posted on here that the room block is now in place for us to call and make our ressies!

If you're on her list - follow her instructions and get your room confirmed!!!

I'M OFFICIAL!!!! Staying at the CBR

WOOHOO!!! I'm sooooo excited!!!!

YEAH FOR EVERYBODY THAT GETS TO MAKE THEIR ROOM RESSIE"S NOW!!!!!

Ok- I did my one mile today- and fought the pain of my hip with clenched teeth and sweat dripping from my face. BUT - I did it. I beat the pain! And now- IT fears ME!!! HAHA! I LAUGH in the face of pain! It took me 25 minutes to do it- but I did it!

HEY!! WE GOT A MAN!!!! YES! Terry- it's great to have you here on the training thread. What a great friend you are to support you friend in his running the marathon all those years. And look at you now- you're doing it yourself. WOOHOO!!!! Welcome to our little world- please contribute often- we need all the encouragement we can get!

Beth- it's so hard to get back on track- but look at you! You are doing it! Keep it up girlie..... I need a walking companion on Jan./ 7th- one that won't get swept up! I sent my addy to you via pm.

Cheryl- welcome back! Sounds like you had a great time in Hilton Head. And 3 lbs?!?!?!? thta's WATER! you'll ahve it off by Friday. Now...... the party's over......GET BACK TO TRAINING!!!!

Kris- DRINK, DRINK, DRINK!!! (I'm talking water here my friend!) Are you feeling better? ANother thing I've learned at least for me is that around the 2 mile mark if I ahve something to eat- it gives me a HUGE boost and puts me into a faster speed of walking. Does anyone else eat while they walk?

Krista- can I come???? I haven't been to WDW in 6 months now- and I am so depressed and missing it. boohoo :(

Ashley- that's so nice of you to look into the shirts. I did talk to Kamy and she would LOVE it if you and I would take over the shirts. I sent you a couple of PM's- did you get them??

OK everyone- I have so enjoyed reading everyone's posts today. It gives me energy when I do- and I love that feeling! Have a good day y'all!!

I haven't been posting a lot lately, primarily because I haven't been exercising (I have lost a few pounds). This week is crazy for me, but I would like to join all of you in training next week. You're all very inspiring.

Hey everyone!

TW1nsmom- glad to have you back. We have a philosophy here of "the more the merrier". So please start coming more, even if you don;t walk (these posts are addiciting and they make you get out there!)

Karen - of course you can come:sunny: to Disney with me. The one thinkg I hate about going to Disney is ... LEAVING. I become depressed for awhile. But of course I have Jan to look forward too. Great idea about eating - I am going to ty it after 20-30 min of jogging to see if that boosts me up.

Beth thanks for the agreeing that I will walk enough in Disney - it takes the pressure off! I will DRINK WATER!
Also congrats on getting back on track. I believe the summer will be our most challengin time yet - but we can all do it together.

Krista:wave2:

Hi ladies, and sir!

Just checking in... it seems many of us had a rough week last week. I struggled with running, and for the first time in 6 months skipped a run. My legs were sore and I was miserable. On Sunday though, it was all good! I ran 9 miles!! My legs were stiff at first but they worked it out and off I went! I'm still far from speedy,it took about 1:45:00. I'm just so amazed at doing it! Still hasn't helped me lose any weight though.

This week has been spent adjusting to our summer schedule and getting ready for WDW. It's a trip with extended family-should be interesting. My goal is to do 2 short runs while I'm there. I loaded up my mp3 player with lots of disney tunes!

Krista, it looks like we'll be there at the same time. I'm crossing my fingers for good weather for us both!

Have a great week everyone!
Colleen

Hi everyone! I just found this thread and will be happily joining all of you in January. I walked 3.2 miles this morning in 60 minutes. Does anybody know what I should work on first stretching the mileage or going faster. I figure I have to shave about 4 minutes a mile off my current time.

Hi Everyone :wave2:

Well you guys motivated me to get out there and walk last night for 45 min. and then today I got in an hour. Todays walk was my 5th day walking for 45-60 min. in the last 6 days! I think that is the most consistent I have ever walked and my legs were tired so I didn't go as fast but at least I got out there. My legs are getting used to the walking outside instead of on the treadmill so I'm going to start adding in some short spurts of jogging again. The thing I don't like about walking outside is I'm not sure about how many miles I am going. I walk part on the roads around our house but also part on the bike/jogging trail so I don't really have any way to figure out the mileage. I guess I'm going to have to get a pedometer if I want to figure it out.

mishoe I got Kamy's email I called and confirmed and I am now officially staying at the CBR too!! It is exciting to now not only have the plane tickets but also the room reservation!!! YIPEE

:jumping1:

Karen great job on getting in your mile today and on BEATING the pain. Just make sure you don't overdo it and really hurt yourself! Thanks for helping to motivate me to get back to the training now can you please tell me to start eating better again lol. My eating habits still seem to be on vacation. Tomorrow I plan to start righting down everything I eat again and I like the idea of not eating anything after 7:00, I think I'm going to give that a try too.

Beth I'm almost caught up on the after vacation laundry mountain lol. I like your idea of sorting the laundry while your still on vacation so that when you come home that is at least all set. I'm going to give that a try when we go visit my sister in Aug. I'm glad you're recommitted and back on track too! A 22 min. walk is better than nothing and at least you didn't say to yourself why bother if you can only get a short one in and just skip it. You got out there and walked in the heat and humidity, GREAT job!!!

tw1nsmom Glad to hear you'll be joining us more next week. This is a very INSPIRING group!

Krista I'm with you in getting depressed when I have to leave WDW. I love it there so much, it is just such a "comfortable" place to be.

Collenn It's great that you checked in even though you are busy getting ready to go to WDW too. If your legs were so sore it is probaly a good thing that you gave them a rest. You don't want to overdo it and really hurt yourself. You have to be rested and ready for all that walking you will be doing at WDW ;) That's great that you were able to run 9 miles on Sunday! WOW, run 9 miles at once, that is amazing and motivating! I have been exercising pretty consistently for the last 4 months and haven't really lost any weight either. I keep losing and regaining the same 5 pounds. It is a bit frustrating but I keep telling myself I am more toned and I am definitely doing something good for my body by exercising and maybe 1 of these days some weight will just finally fall off me LOL. I guess it would help if I would consistently eat better though.

Have a GREAT Wednesday everyone

Cheryl :sunny:

Oh you guys! there's so much info and inspiration on this thread today!!! YIPPPEEEE!

LAWalz- my trainer has told me not to worry about the time right now ( i do 1 mile in about 20 mins.) she says right now what I need to concentrate on endurance/distance. Speed will come later she says. And she says not to woprry - there's PLENTY of time between now and January to get that speed up. Hope that info helps. AND..........WELCOME!!

Colleen- 9 MILES!!! WOWWEEEEE! I haven't even come close to walking 9 miles yet, let alone running them! I am so impressed. It sounds to me like you are ready to go girly! And - I think we should ahve a award for the WISHWalker that finishes the fastest. I'm gonna tell Kamy abolut that one- what do you guys think??? First WISHWalk finisher and how about the last WISHWalker to finish? I like that idea.

Krista- I feel better already just knowing that you would let me come! THANKS!!!

tw1nsmom- please come bac k and post! We love to have lots of people's ideas and views and knowledge!
