I agree -

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=109

come find the "weekly" thread -

right now everyone is chatty - coming off the "high" of Marathon Weekend!!

I did MY FIRST HALF MARATHON!! :cool1:

I'm old, out of shape, and fat - I've been working on that -

I started with the couch-to-5K program, went to a running shoe store, got fitted for the right shoes, and my future daughter in law convinced me to run a 5K -

things progressed ok - until I got very sick - around Christmas I realized we're going - so I'd better get some running in!! It was too little too late, but I was able to finish that Half - JUST BARELY staying in front of the Disney "sweepers" but I DID IT -

There are a lot of people that post that they can walk it - just know I couldnt keep up with the walkers and it was disheartening at times!! BUT I DID IT!!

I GOT MY MEDAL!! :cool1:

I posted a trip report over there also... its on page 3 now tho.. (it'll fall off the Dis soon!).

Bo, ain't that the truth. Like Sandy, I just did my first Half at WDW, and I've already decided to go back and do it again next year.

Welcome Suzanne. Glad to have you on the WISH team.

Our family did the 1/2 and My daughter and I want to do it again. After I swore I would never do it again. But like others here if we keep in shape during the year we should have no problem.

I walked it in 3:09, my daughter and husband jogged it in 2:59 I was only 10 min behind them. I'm 53, overweight and loved every minute of it (except when I fell in mile 1).

Go for it, you have a year to train and a goal that you can reach.

Thanks all. I picked up the registration form yesterday. How long do you think I have until it fills up? Anyone know when they stopped taking registrations in years past?

So, I have never run/walked a half marathon before. I am great on the treadmill but I know its very different.

Tips? Hints? Suggestions?

Please do stop to the Events side, there are many people of different ability levels who would be glad to give advise and assist you as you get going. Everyone there is quite friendly and will welcome your questions.

There is a weekly walker/runner thread on the events side of WISH and that is where the training takes place too. Stop by and get to know everyone.
