1. When does the second runners time begin? Is it when the first runner crosses his finish line or is there a "start" line for the second runner?

2. Do the two runners receive their medals at the same time at the end of the marathon?

The 2nd runner's time starts when they cross the timing mat to start. And the 1st runner gets their medal when they cross their finish line. (It shows medal area on map in the instructions)

Oh, that's great! So once my DH finishes his run, I could really wait for my friend's partner to finish so we could run the second half together, correct??

I found the final instructions map, but I couldn't find the 2nd runner's start line.

There will be a chip mat that Runner 2 will cross to start their time. Neither the Runner 1 finish line nor the Runner 2 start lines are actually noted on the Map. I would expect the actual start and finish lines are actually at the edge of the street where Runner 1 turns in and runner 2 turns out.... That is really the only way you can add a relay that turns in and out of an existing marathon course...

And, yes, you can wait for your friend to start or actually she could start with you. I know that if Runner 1 takes too long and is swept or is injured, Runner 2 can start without Runner 1 actually finishing.

That is great news, thanks Coach!
