Marathon Program is released

Who needs an excuse? I was one of the first on Dumbo at DL the Friday before half marathon....just me, myself and I :)

Maura

In all of my trips, I've actually never been on Dumbo! I just never could bring myself to stand in line for essentially a fair ride, no matter what a Disney classic it is. :goodvibes But this year for some reason I'm actually looking forward to it. Maybe having a kid validates my deep-seated desire to ride Dumbo? :rotfl2:

Anyway, just like the Buzz Lightyear shirt he will be wearing for the 5K, it's really more about me than him.

It certainly does seem more "real" now! I'm just getting really excited at this point.

I was glad to see the 10am Thursday time as well. We're getting in on Wednesday, but aren't going to the parks until Thursday. So, my family can enjoy the parks, and I'll be back to them in time for lunch! At least, I hope it won't take long if I'm there first thing.

Oh, I did have a question: Do you think it's really necessary to go to the talks? The only one I'm concerned with Dave McGillivray one that discusses Goofy. I figure I've learned enough on here and just reading through the packet that I don't need to go, but just wanted to hear what you guys think.

Frankly I find the Goofy talks are a waste of time. Seems just a little late. Now if they were talking about the most common rule violations, what referees would be looking for and tweaks to the course that you may not see in the water or at 20 mph then by all means I would attend. Otherwise you are going to get an earfull of ...

- make sure you keep your wrist band on (always wear it on your watch arm so you can tuck it under the band and out of the way)
- if you lose the band, make sure to head to the info tent pre-race with an ID
- After the half stop at the Goofy tent and have your band changed
- After the full make sure to stop at the Goofy tent for your medal.
- Saturday afternoon is not an nap day. Do your normal cooldown, eat a recovery meal and head out for a walk or three on Saturday afternoon making sure to stretch as you get back into the room.

Saved you an hour

Love it! Thanks. Now, I can go about my business.

Actually, if people read the packet, that's all in there. And, the Saturday afternoon non nap is just common sense.

Oh geez. Now I guess I really have to do this, hu?

:scared1:

I'm so excited for everyone!!! It sounds like they are making a few needed changes (opening the expo earlier and less time in the corrals).

Can't wait to cheer everyone on!!

Looking closely at the map it looks like the right side (Blue Start) is the side they're keeping not the left. Running epcot with the torches before the sun rose was my absolute favorite part of the entire marathon. Here's to hoping Red Start is the one they kept and the map's just wrong.

Based on the mile markers, I'd have to agree it looks like Blue Start only. However, I just remembered that last year's program had the same consolidated half/full map, and also looked like there would only be one start. But when we saw the final race instructions, we were back to a Red/Blue Start as usual. I'd suggest the jury stay out until we get the final race instructions for 2011.

Yea, I'm not gonna pass judgment quite yet as I've never done blue start. On a side note I'm loving that they announced all the other races on the cover. Already booked wine and dine.

I like both sides but prefer the red, left side if running Goofy. The hill, overpass is placed perfectly for assessing what kind of day is coming.

As for teh wine and dine I am thinking for me it was a once and done race... or at least once every five years for now....

Besides I am toying with being in your neck of the woods for the National Tri three weekends earlier.

Nations Tri, yup I'm doing that one as well. Should be an awesome race, the Bike Course is very nice.

Don't they usually send out an e-mail by now and we start to figure out race numbers and such ? I thought it was always in November ?

Last year, the email with bib numbers and final race instructions came out in mid-December, a few weeks before the race. I think now that they've got the packet pick-up forms and the program available, we'll see the rest of the information in another week or so.

Oh, that's exciting!!!! I can't wait.

I still remember the good ole days when we recieved an 8.5 x 11 race packet in Mid-October. The book was wrapped in clear plastic and the blow in maling card was also the wiaver....

You could take the book out and hte pack and just smell the fresh ink as you leafed through the booklet.

Now all I get is a static tingle when I get my nose too close to the monitor.

I never lived through those days, but I have to say that your comment killed me. I get excited enough about digital copies of things, I can't imagine what it would be like to get "real" ones.

Speaking of that.... I wonder where my DME tags are.... lol.

I got my DME tags yesterday and just called my Aunt to see if she could stay here and watch my kids. My mother cannot do it right now, great to have a wonderful family who will help out.
