Son is registered for the marathon but forgot to make lodging reservations. Now the only rooms left are too expensive. Looks like he will have to stay offsite - and without a car. What's the best way to get to the race in a situation like this? Will a taxi be able to get him there? Is it possible for him to get to a onsite hotel to met his friends and go on the bus? Can't believe that he let this happen!!!

He can't stay with his friends? From what I hear, Uber is the way to go. It is much cheaper than a taxi.

Yes, he can catch the bus from the hotel if he can get there. Or just get dropped off and picked up from Epcot.

I recommend getting to the hotel and taking the bus. He needs to be aware that buses start running around 3 AM. He NEEDS to be there early. You can't imagine how far it is to the starting corrals and how long it takes. I have watched WAY too many runners sprinting, literally, to get to there corral because they didn't allow enough time. Sadly 100's of people miss their corral start time because they mistakenly thought they wouldn't need to be there that early.

Do not try to taxi (or Uber) to Epcot. The traffic will be unbelievable.

I think he'd be fine to get a taxi or Uber to Epcot as long as he gets there early before traffic gets bad. We've stayed offsite for two marathon weekends and drove to Epcot. We've stayed at places that are around 15-20 minute drives to Epcot and we leave around 3 or 3:15 to drive there. If he leaves that early, traffic is nearly non-existant and there's a separate lane for drop-offs. If, however, he waits until later like 4 to leave, then traffic would likely be difficult. Then he can just arrange a meeting place with his friends when they arrive.

Similarly he could take a cab or Uber to the hotel so he can ride with his friends. Just be sure he knows to leave early enough.
