How is the park attendence over the marathon weekend? Is it better to go before the marathon or after. Looking to go Jan8-12. We are thinking of staying at Wilderness Lodge, but I am afraid it may not be easy to get to the start. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the DIS, tiggerunner, I'm very glad you found us and I hope you can visit often.

I've never participated in a marathon at WDW nor have I toured the parks during those dates. I'm going to bump this back to page one for you, though, and I'm sure some of our veterans will have some advice and information to share with you.

Tigger,

January is historically a slow month at WDW. The weekend of the marathon does tend to be slightly more crowded than others that month. I know it draws quite a few people. It is by know means as crowded as springbreak or christmas week. That being said...

NOBODY can predict what type of crowds you will see on your visit. There could be any number of things that can have an effect on attendance.

Just go - have fun - enjoy yourself and don't stress over the weather, crowds or anything else.

Wilderness Lodge is beautiful, especially that time of year!! Take time to sit in front of the fireplaces and enjoy the ambience. I know the marathon starts early in the am, so Disney transportation might be a problem - don't know what type of bus schedule they run for the marathon. As a rule - we always drive to the different parks when staying. Don't really rely on WDW getting us were we need to go.

Have a great time and good luck in the race!
