This is my 1st Marathon so am curious about what the Food stations on the course are. What do they provide? Is this different than the what Clif will provide? Gel packets and/or clif shots.

There will be four food stops located along the course. Chiquita bananas
will be available at Mile 11.5 and Mile 18.3. Clif products will be distributed at Mile 15.4 and Mile 19.4.
Sponges will be provided at Mile 17.1, and candy will be available at Mile 22.5.

The candy is usually in the form of small choclate candy bars.

The Cliff products are gels and blocks and are of various flavors. Listen and the volutneers will call out flavors.

With the food stops, should one supplement what one normally takes such as a gu packet, replace or not even worrry about it.

Although with my pace I may have to carry 10 gu's.

Thanks.

Great. Thanks for the quick reply. That's exactly the info I was looking for.

Whoops grabbed the wrong quote in my last post. This was the information I needed.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Just bananas then at the food stops? My DH, who is running the half, is allergic, so we'll have to plan accordingly. He can't stand the gel-pack products.

Frankly, I pass the Clif stuff up UNLESS I am really suffering and needing something different than what is on my fuel belt. I train on occasion with Clif products so I have an idea of what I can stomach

USE CAUTION with bananas. If one cannot stomach a green nanner while idle, it is highly unlikely you will have much better luck on the course. Take a nibble and see how it sets then proceed. Many times the fruit is a little under ripe...

The question and answer was for the full....

The half used to have nanners but now only has Clif products just before mile 9..

ONE WORD ON FOOD VS WATER STATIONS

Not together - ok that was two. Look ahead as you grab your fuel at the fuel stops. If you need a swig of water (and you should) you will not see an aid station near most of the fuel stops. Grab an unopend fuel supplement and work a little way down the road before consuming.

Just my two cents: I never carry water, but I always carry my food. My stomach is much more sensitive to the wrong gels, etc than anything else. Gels and Bloks can easily be carried in a small belt pack. Certainly supplement at a minimum, but I would just pass on the food stations.

I'm planning to carry my own fuel and if they have something I like, bonus, I save a gu pack. I've tried a variety of the CLIF products during training and like the blocks but most of the gels taste like they're laced with poison. :stir: To each their own!
